Do you know that the university itself can't pay for NIL?  It all has to come from donations.

Saying that we need to be paying more in NIL = complaining about people not donating enough.

And I believe I said we could be a top 5-10 program, but I see us more likely in the 10-15 range.  Which isn't bad when there are 130 FBS schools!

I find it hard to believe that we can sustain a top 5 NIL based on dollars (5-10, maybe).  Sure Nebraska fans are rabid, but it is a small state (37th nationally in population, WV is the only state with a smaller population with a P5 school).  We have a small alumni base compared to other P5 schools (Nebraska is 13th in the B1G in enrollment).  Sure we have large "donor's of substance", but what I am getting at is that there is just a smaller base for donations compared to an Ohio St or Texas (and not to mention other areas of the country have more lucrative businesses like Oil $$$ in Texas).

I would add to this that as of 2021 NU was only behind Auburn in coaching dead money and we fired Frost  and owe him

So why can a school that is hamstrung as much as you say, able to pay near or at the top on coaches but not on field talent (if they are t already?)

Profitability and brand value have nothing to do with NIL.

I'm bowing out here because there is no tangible proof that can be offered that our NIL "good" or "bad".  I just feel like people are taking out their frustrations on our football team sucking for 10 years on our current NIL stuff.

Maybe my expectations of having a top 15 NIL program are too low.  I guess I need to be yelling at clouds that we need a top 5 NIL program (and maybe its my acceptance that I will never see Nebraska win another natty that is causing this).

As I said before, I do trust Rhule.  He seems to "get it" in ways that the guys before him didn't.  And he is working with the 1890 every step of the way.  I 100% believe if we were falling behind or needed more money he would come out and say it (like what Fleck did a week ago). 

I don't want to give any credit to the Peeds or Davison, but it seems that 1890 is working much better than ABM before it (probably because it was ran by Frost cronies Lambrecht and Bruning).

The trucks are cool from a marketing perspective but it doesn't necessarily prove anything about the overall money being spent and/or the value players are getting.

Agreed, and which is exactly what I’m saying in regards to the Callahan statement.

Yet it doesn’t.  You do understand that donor money goes to a lot of different places (like buying out 2 weeks of Frost for millions of dollars) and someone/‘s could point out that donor money could possibly be better spent on helping attract on field talent.  It’s called a reallocation of resources in some cases.

And how does that $200-$300k for our top players compare to top players on top 15 teams?  I don’t know, but reports (which all anyone goes on says the top QB’s get more) 

I don’t know s#!t but the word on the street when Dylan R. chose UGA was that Nebraska’s NIL package for him was in the $8-$9M range. I sort of assume that numbers like $200-$300K are an average or base and not what we would be doing for the top players. But like I said, I don’t know. And that’s sort of the problem with this whole deal. The info really doesn’t exist and isn’t intended for us to know.

I’m quite certain I do.  BTW that person didn’t say we couldn’t  sustain top 10 in NIL  :dunno   His words below….

I posed it in response to comment about Nebraska being a small state.   It’s likely  you missed my earlier comment about blowing it out for a few years and settle in the top 5-10 range, which the two in the discussion agreed was possible.

When NIL started, almost every article about it said this would give Nebraska an advantage.  I can only speak for myself, but I take that as an advantage over the other perennial top 25-30 teams and not an advantage over Alcorn State or Northern Illinois.

I took it to mean something more in the middle of those two thing you mentioned - an advantage over the other Teams in the West not named Wisconsin.

And I think it still could be, except of course now the divisions will change and even if we do get to that place where we were with Bo and the Illinois' & Minnesota's were more automatic wind each year, it may not mean as much to our final record.
