What Did We Learn? - Michigan

Until Nebraska actually wins one of these games against a ranked team - until they actually proove it - don't bet on Nebraska.

Nebraska has an O-line problem:
  • The O-line gave up 7 sacks!
  • Nebraska also has to overhaul their short yardage offense. This is multiple games now when Nebraska needs 2 or 3 yards they just can't find a way to be physical enough to do it.
  • Nebraska's running game needs major improvment. Right now it's a small supplement to a pass-heavy scheme.
Michigan won this game because of their dominant running game. Ask yourself when was the last time you could rely on Nebraska's running game being dominant?

The pass defense was decent, but the missed tackles in the running game killed us. Michigan had 3 plays that went for 164 yards!

On a positive note Archie Wilson is an absolute weapon at punter. I was very impressed with his skill today.

Just based off of this game right now I see this Nebraska team as 7-5 or 8-4.

This is a turning point type of game for the program. Address and coach up the mistakes by players and coaches but I can see this being the type of loss where the players bounce back and push themselves harder.
Unfortunately there's 1 aspect where it's been bad the entire time a specific person has been coaching them and he's not going anywhere. The Oline imho has been a glaring hole for many years and even now it's just not getting better and I have family on that Oline.

I agree. We were down double digits twice and could have thrown in the towel but played to the very end. In the past this game would have gotten away from us but this team feels different. Still would have loved to win it but I'm optimistic about the rest of the season.
