Pretty amazing what a significant upgrade at the most important position in all of sports can do for a team!

Throwing sideways passes to a big moose was kind of weird. During the game someone commented that they need to get him downfield where he'd be a tough matchup for a linebacker. That makes more sense.
I think we need the best blocker who can catch to play TE as well....somebody who can block the edge and let the RB get around.

Nebraska's offense yesterday was less west coast (WC) and more heavy pro-style sets and spread concepts, more akin to stuff we've seen since Bo through Frost. Satterfield's pass offense relies on some timing concepts, but so do most passing offenses, so that isn't really just an inherent quality of the WC anymore.

And I've said the following ever since Callahan came in - I think a number of offenses could work at Nebraska, even more balanced ones. What mattered most was the Jimmy's and Joe's and development. But, I have always had a personal affinity for offenses that had more power-run concepts because I just felt it suited Nebraska's recruiting capabilities a bit better. Satterfield's offense could be that for Nebraska presuming the lines stay strong.

The biggest problem for me was when Pederson buffed up Herbie and turned him into a silly city boy...I guess implying that our fanbase was a bunch of country bumpkins who had to go. Callahan was actually a pretty good coach but probably a fish out of water in college ball. I never got used to the dancing bears either, but that style of blocking was inevitable with the rule changes due to knee injuries.

 
Not something I learned per se but man I really am not going to take for granted having a defense that properly swarms and tackles well. Such a refreshing comfort and joy to watch after so many of the units we've been witness to since Y2k

Yeah I was trying to remember the last time it happened to that extent.  Bethune-Cookman in '18?  Do we have to go all the way back to Pelini and Idaho State in '12?  I remember the broadcasting crew talking about how bad the Bengals were on the radio.

Ugggg, I had skybox tix to that idaho State game.  It was fun for about 10 minutes and after that was soooooo boring.

 
Most fun I had watching a husker game in years.. 

In game one, #15 gave us some of the best qb play since, well #15

Banks and Neyer will play at the next level

Carter Nelson is going to be fun to watch

Fidone looks like he’s off. His receivers did not block well for him but you would think he could break just one tackle coming from a CB. 

It’s encouraging that the defense looks at least as good as last year, let’s hope our CBs can stay on their feet when targeted against Colorado. GBR!

I definitely think there was an effort to not show too much this game. However, if you go back and watch a wide pass to Fidone where Raiola passes to his left, both wide receivers on the left missed their blocks. While Fidone broke a couple of tackles, he was ultimately stopped.

If that play is better executed, he could have seen huge yardage and possibly a TD.
