Their headscratching analysis shouldn't come as much of a surprise, considering Chris Collinsworth owns it.

I'd be interested to see if there was an all 22 of that play.

I don't necessarily disagree with you that the decision making may have been a bit questionable, but neither of the defenders in the area really made a play on the ball. There was one DB running down the sideline who never even turned his head. Maybe other DB's make a play on that, but it's also possible that Dylan saw a gap in the zone and the DB's not tracking the ball and just hoped his guy would come back to make a play otherwise it would fall lifelessly to the turf.

Again, I'm not saying I know one way or the other lol maybe it was a wacky choice on his part.

They may want him to seek contact as a way to exert plays on the defense and sub in two more quality backs when reps get high or workload becomes too much. Rhule has said we want to run and we want to be physical, but a lot of other pieces are fast (wr pop passes) and R. Johnson out of the backfield. His “job” may be to hit them where it hurts.

Considering Rhule's comments about needing to turn 4 yard runs into 40, that seems unlikely.

 
I’m not sure if this was a good benchmark game or not.  CU’s coaching was horrible. 
 

and look at Oregon with the jokes. First the big yellow duck at Media days and now the trolling.

I think it really depends how one defines 'benchmark,' but hey since it's a message board, let's over-analyze and dive in  :w00t .

To me, a benchmark game is against an opponent of equal or greater talent and caliber at most match-ups. I think Shadeur and Travis are great players, same with Horn. They also have a good DB or two. Otherwise, Nebraska is objectively the better team. So, I don't think it was a good benchmark from that standpoint. CU is probably in the bottom 1/3 of teams Nebraska will play this year.

But, the game provided a lot of value and was a good benchmark in other ways. It gave Nebraska an opportunity in prime time with a huge audience. Nebraska also physically dominated Colorado, making it seem like CU didn't even really belong on the same field. The second-half was frustrating but I also get it because it was the second half of a blowout against an out-matched opponent. I don't love it, but I get it.

I also think the game provided sort of an unintentional "letdown game" all in one experience. Sometimes you see teams just blow the doors off another team and then lay an egg the following week. If Nebraska had won like 48-10, I might actually be a little more concerned about next week's game. It seems like Nebraska decided to just lay that egg a bit in the second half, perhaps getting it out of their system to be able to re-focus and get to work for next week.

It's probably a good benchmark unless you're trying to figure out whether we can win a Big Ten championship or go 10-2. This same team beat us last year, and we didn't turn the ball over. 

It could still turn out to be a fluke, but I feel we're at least 3 wins better than last year just based off of turnovers.

 
On paper, in terms of player talent, Colorado should have been an equal match-up. Maybe even better.

But boy, are they hopelessly outmatched in the coaching department...

I disagree. Nebraska is more talented at almost every position except QB (Shedeur), CB/WR (Hunter), and WR/KR (Horn).

I thought their defense was fast and physical.  Not as good as Nebraska’s by any stretch of the imagination, but probably a bit better than a lot of people give them credit for.   And, obviously they have incredibly gifted playmakers on offense.  

Nebraska is just so much better in the trenches on both sides of the ball.  Which is an awesome thing to be able to say about a P5 opponent after years and years and years being outmatched there against most P5 opponents.

It's awesome to see actual player development after what we were subjected to with the previous coaching staff.
