Fixing the depth issues WILL take time because of scholarship limitations. And you can't just go out and recruit nothing but linemen one year to "fix" the problem because not only will you end up in the same position 4 years down the road when that group graduates but you also are robbing other positions of bodies so those positions begin suffering from depth issues as well.

The best way to fix this imo, is by hiring more ace recruiters. We'll have to endure some pain but life is like a bed of roses, some beauty and pain.

Clemson has the same limitations, yet they've loaded their 2 deep with talented freshmen and sophomore's after replacing (about) 20 underclassmen on defense the last few years.

Oh, this excuse again. How long are we going to trot it out?

Starting next year, the guys in the program will have more time with the current crew, so if this theory is to believed, we'll see a massive jump from all the "Pelini guys" holding us back.

If players were dogging it this year they should not have been playing, or should have been out of the program. The whole excuse of Bo's players poisoning this year doesn't hold water.

The "Pelini Recruits" excuse is pretty lame. We have plenty of four star recruits on both sides of the ball that his staff recruited. Far more than the Iowa team that blew us off the field for instance .

The coaches job is to develop that talent and get the most out the players you have right now. Win games and compete every time out. They get paid a ton of money to do this. Not to force their "system" or make excuses for losing games because they don't have "Their" players. Yeah eventually you'll get your players and can run your system but the real top quality coaches can win with other coaches recruits, inferior talent etc So i'm not buying the talent excuse. Earn your paycheck coaches.

Curious how y'all feel about your S&C coach(es)? Watching the game yesterday reminded me a lot of watching a pac12 game. Sure there were bad angles and guys out of place, but there seems to be an epidemic in the pac12 that marathon runners > actual weight training. Did Riley bring that philosophy with him? Some of those missed tackles looked like guys simply lacking the finishing strength that you get from good ol Olympic weight training.

Banker said yesterday we need more speed and size on the defensive side of the ball. I thought that news flash was about two years old when the S&C guy Riley brought in and Epley referred to similar things.

Evidently the staff has made zero progress in two years.

Every coach wants more size and speed. Banker needs to decide where to focus. More speed without losing size, or more size without losing speed.

I'd go for a coach that has a proven record of fielding a top 15 defense year in and year out. Banker doesn't have a clue. He was the weak link at OSU as well. Its just too bad MR cannot see this.
