What he said. There was an article I read with Cosgrove the other day. A lot of it had to do with a change in how team's were game planning. Less 7 step drops to neutralize the pass rush. Last year, there were a ton of sacks and TFL's, but a ton of big plays given up. I think the yardage and points allowed per game is very similar at this point, but I will check to see if that is accurate.
:yeah Bingo! Trying to gameplan around the secondary is the main reason. Plus there have been several near misses where Carriker, Moore and company have been a step late from getting a sack.We could tell teams were starting to adjust to our defense at the end of last year. The sacks per game started going down in the last four games of the 05 season. Teams start doing shorter drops, more max protection, and double Carriker. Factor in that we seem to be blitzing less because our secondary is less than par right now and we start to see why our sack total is less than last year.
