I think you pose an interesting question, what if? I completely agree with you, there is a lot that indicates a turn-around, but what if it doesn't happen? Last year seemed like a slam dunk 10-11 win season in August, and even moreso after the beatdown on Nevada. The fact is it could get worse, there may be a lot of talent on the field, but the fact is that they are inexperienced. You have a redshirt sophomore that has never started set to protect the blindside of a QB who has only started 3 games. There is a new starting center, the #1 and #2 WR's would be most teams #3 and #4 receivers, the starting TE has caught 1 pass, the defensive line returns, but they were awful, we have a fourth string running back playing weakside linebacker and a 5th year walk-on that has never started on the strongside. Not to mention a first year starting safety and corner.
I'm not trying to be doom and gloom, but there is some cause for concern. I think the players will rally around Pelini and he will extract the max from them, but what exactly is the max? Is it 6 wins? Is it 8 wins? Is it 12 wins? I dunno, but I am so ready for Saturday to get this thing kicked off.
