What is your take on this guy??

Axel,

You know if you had your way today. There would be very few fans at the Cotton Bowl, Memorial Stadium sell out record would end and you would be setting in an 80,000 seat stadium less than half full. You are the minority in many ways. There would be no jumbo tron, no new turf, no locker room upgrades. I doubt seriously you have contributed to the program, other than your beer consumption. My guess a lot of those you seem to hate have been buying season tickets, donating thousands of dollars to the program long before you were even born. You have no more right to be there than they do. All are intitled to go to the game and enjoy it the best they can. Think about it.

Just remember you will be in there shoes someday. Your scream then, and one of the loudest, will be DOWN IN FRONT.

The only things I would change would be having less advertising mumbo jumbo on the screen because they become a bigger distraction. I would move the student section to behind the opponents bench. There are other stadiums in the country that hold more than Memorial Stadium in the Big 10 and the SEC....and that DON'T have a "down in front" reputation.....and the program gets just as much money, if not more so I really don't see where you are going with your argument.

Axel,

Down in front is standard cry at every stadium I have ever went to. Pro or College. Nebraska did not coin the phrase.

I agree, I would like to see the student section behind the opposing team. I think that is great idea and have always been in favor of it. The more noise and disruption to their strategy and game day experience is great.

What I am saying Axel, is that with out those die hard fans that have endured for decades we would not be the team we are. Without them in the stands we would not have sellouts game after game. No matter how much you hate the thought of it, they are Nebraska. Old and young combined.

Like I said, I stand as much as I can to cheer, but I always look to see who is setting behind me. Is it a young dog like your self, a mother with a small child, and older fan that looks somewhat frail. I take these things into consideration. I do not drink to be a fan. I don't drink period. But I want every fan to enjoy the game, I do not want to be responsible for someone behind me not seeing the game. I have even held the child behind me or near to me up so they can see what is going on.

But if you take these people out of memorial stadium, your game atmosphere would be changed dreamatically. We only build for 5 to 7 thousand extra seats upon expansion for a reason. We could not support a larger stadium than we have. To take away a vast majority to stay home and watch, would destroy this program very quickly. Economics my young friend. We do not have the population to really support what we have. It is literally amazing what they have accomplished. Those old dudes have paid the bills for years, my grandfather never missed a home game for over 40 years. Made most bowl games, gave many parcels of land to the University and hundreds of thousands of dollars to this program. He surely should have the right to see the game. Just as you should in another 40 years.
