For me it was game 1.

  • Gave too much of a glimpse that the more things change...
  • Sucked momentum and positive vibes from the start
  • Is probably the game that was most "in the bag" before bad play turned the tide
  • Its the 6th win the team is still chasing

Michigan State. Can’t lose to that bad football team. Once we lost there I didn’t have us beating Maryland or Wisconsin as momentum was lost. If we had won there, I think we win at least one of the next two. Now our whole season comes down to Iowa.

Maryland. The turnovers and the inability to get more than 10 points on the board against a pretty average team was pathetic.

The Minnesota loss helped the team get motivated to really dial it in starting with Illinois. Which we did. We needed either Michigan State or Maryland to get the bowl game and not getting it just put us into a terrible place.

Michigan State.  We were at 5-3.  We had a 3 game winning streak going up against a team with a 6 game losing streak. Our offense couldn't score much as usual, but our defense gave up some big plays against a team that had previously looked like they had given up on the season.

MSU. Set the tone for the next two games. All 3 were in our grasp. MSU brought back vision of how we played under the not to be named former coach.

Now I will say the Iowa game.  It ended the season.  It kept us out of a bowl game.  It proved once again that we are not ready for the NEW Expanded B1G - we could be bottom quarter dwellers next year unless something drastic happens via the portal and coaching changes.

I think the collective heart of Husker nation knew that the season was probably over after the Michigan State loss. We still had hope but those that have been close to this program for years knew in the back of their minds that the season was lost
