When We Move to the Big Ten...

An interesting thought crossed my mind as I watched an ESPN ( :espnsucks: ) clip about us going to the Big 10. Herbstreit was on there talking about why we switched over and how it will impact other teams. Anyway, assuming we do move to the Big 10, what becomes of the Peso defense? The Big 10 is thought to be a power running (cough, cough, slow, cough) conference, and Bo tailormade the Peso D to shut down the high octane spread offenses in the Big 12. How will our move affect the Peso defense? Do you think we can effectively use it to shut down a different brand of Big 10 defenses?

i know michigan has a spread offense...plus purdue throws it around a lot...plus the buckeyes have more shotgun and what not with pryor...don't really know though...not like we have to play the option every week

Northwestern, Indiana, Illinois, are spread and Penn State has what they call "Spread HD" or some sort of jazz like that. Iowa, Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Michigan State are really the only "three yards and a cloud of dust" teams left.

not worried. Bo's d to me will do what the spread did for offenses. Bo d does the dictating, thats the style of it. Theyll have to change to us...not us to them.

Shouldn't really be a problem. Might have to play more 4-3 against the likes of Iowa and Wisconsin, but no matter. By the time we play in the Big 10, all of our current secondary will probably be gone. So we won't be wasting a huge strength like we would be this year.

Liar! That crap Up North cannot be categorized as offense. Offensive maybe; but not offense. :D

Up North...that still cracks me up. Such hatred for not just a team, but an entire state that you can't even utter its name.

Interestingly enough, when RichRod was hired at Michigan, the predominant talking heads thought that his offense would revolutionize/terrorize the big, slow, plodding Big Ten defenses. The fact that these dolts never took into consideration is what has borne out the last two years: the Big Ten defenses for the most part of powerful, quick, and put a hurt on 5'7" 175 slot dots. I'm sure Nebraska (and Pelini schemes) will bear out much better initial results than the RichRod experiment.

Truth be told, I attended Eastern Michigan which is 5 miles east of that Whore Ann. It was a rough four years, but it forged an eternal indignation that will never be doused. :steam
