By compete I mean finish in the top 5, or at least have a shot of sneaking into the BCS with one loss.

Looking at the current recruiting class, you have to have a feeling there is something special brewing here. Also with the amount of Jucos they are taking, do you think they are maybe thinking of making a run for it in 2009?

Also, I know some of you are probably going to want to vote multiple years, so we're assuming that if they compete one year, they will be competitive thereafter.

2009 sounds reasonable. We could technically run the table this year if it weren't for the brutal schedule. Another 2 years of adding depth and we should be right there.

I have to agree with that also Rob. If we beat USC there is no other team on our schedule that is like USC. The only team close would be Texas.

I doubt NU will ever compete for a national title under Callahan. His coaching is not at the level of coaches who lead their teams to national titles. He needs to work on his play calling and make it less conservative. Also he hasn't shown the ability to make adjustments at the half and thats why we sucked in the 2nd half last year. But if somehow Callahan figures out how to coach better then I think that we could have a shot in the next few years.

He's shown that he has the balls to do some things too... (Fake punt in own territory USC/Auburn). And what about the Texas game last year... That drive we had to take the lead he opened up the playbook too. I think he's done fine with the play calling.

Please tell me you are kidding and forgot to insert the Sarcasm thingy.

Nebraska will never ever compete with Coach Callahan at the helm? Whatever dude...I beg to differ and so do a lot of others I'm thinking. Coach Callahan and his staff have shown more grit, determination, freakin emotion, knowledge, passion, hard work, dedication than I have seen in many years at Nebraska.

God what a Debbie Downer you are....

I think he will win a championship here, BC does need to find a way to play better in the 3rd quarter and finish off games. He also needs to be better at recognizing when something is not working we need to adjust to something else. Now that the players are more knowledgable of the system I think we will see expanded play calling and attack the defense better than we could in the past.

GBR

I'm saying next year, only based on the difficulty of this years' schedule...however, next year we'll have a brand new starter at QB...so who knows...I want a championship every year!
