bigred 40 I agree with you 100 percent on ur post abut getting back to our identity, this crap is getting old.yep i think Frost is our guy too
we used to always get the best in state guys
where are you getting this from?Osborne did.
We used to get studs from other states too. As for in state guys, how many 4 and 5 stars is Nebraska puting out these days? The lack of in state talent is one of the problems this team faces.
What qualifies an AD or coach to be the "Very Best" out there though ? I think it has to be someone who understands the unique challenges and situation at Nebraska and how to fix it. Not sure an outsider can do that. We were told Bill Callahan was the best, Pederson, Eichhorst, and Riley too . Not so muchHow about hiring an AD with the help of a search firm to make sure we get best possible out there. And then said hired AD uses a search firm to hire best coach possible.
Who is going to come? We got rid of a 9 win coach and now we're going to get rid of a coach after year 3. Who is going to come here with immense pressure to win and no in-state recruiting base? That's a really, really tough sell.

There has been basically complete unilateral hiring of ADs and coaches since TO retired from coaching. Gotta use search firm recommendations imo. These one man hiring "commitees" havent worked. Anyone worth their salt will understand the unique challenges and situation here. We are a historic program for Chists sake. What qualifies an AD or coach to be the "Very Best" out there though ? Someone who wants to make a WHOLE LOTTA money.Who is going to come? We got rid of a 9 win coach and now we're going to get rid of a coach after year 3. Who is going to come here with immense pressure to win and no in-state recruiting base? That's a really, really tough sell.

I disagree. An established coach is looking for support. Knowing he could get canned before the rebuild is complete will keep him away. We may end up with either a coordinator or an up and comer. I want neither. This just isn’t a valid excuse anymore at top P5 programs. No coach we are targeting would blame us for firing Riley if we have two losing seasons out of 3.
Barring a miracle, Riley is done. I hope NU gets a great hire in here and things are turned around.
