Where have Pelini's turnovers gone?

eh <_< Turnovers can be game changers no doubt, but I am sure Pelini is more concerned about getting the defense right! Getting them in the right position to make them plays, the way our secondary has been playing the have to be within 2 yards for once to at least make an attempt for the pick. Once the guys figure out that you have to takle on defense, hopefully they will start trying to go for the ball. I would rather have more 3 and outs than turnovers at this point.

Yeah holvy83 I'd rather be able to stop the ball consistently rather than get lucky once or twice a game and get a pick.

Anyways, why does everyone always act like Bo is a turnover God?

2007 LSU 3rd with 36 turnovers

2006 LSU 78th with 21 turnovers

2005 LSU 111th with 14 turnovers

2004 Oklahoma 54th with 22 turnovers

2003 Nebraska 2nd with 47 turnovers

The year with us and then last year with LSU were very good, but also had some pretty good talent to work with. The other years he was in the bottom half of the country in turnovers, yet still consistently at the top of the country in total defense. Turnovers can spark your team and really change the momentum, but stopping them on any sort of regular basis is far more effective in my opinion.

I think turnovers will come with confidence...which they don't really have yet. Once they are comfortable that they are getting the job done, and aren't missing something, I think they will start taking a few chances.

Look at where we were...they couldn't even tackle in the open field...now they are starting to tackle, and it is getting better.

Baby steps...it all will come in time.

You can't have guys jumping routes when they can't stay in position consistently. You can't have guys stripping the ball when they can't tackle consistently.

End. Of. Story.

And we are having guys try and strip the ball...which makes for broken or missed tackles.

yep
:yeah I agree. It would be great to see the turnover numbers increase, but if your not in position, dumb luck is all you can hope for. And unfortunitly or luck hasn't been great in recent years. <_< 'knock, knock'

As an aside: the article is wrong when it says NU hasn't recovered a fumble in 13 games - Hagg recovered a fumbled forced by Glenn in the 1st game this year.

man... I watched the drive where Asante had a sure thing, but it slipped through his hands... oh.... it hurts.

in my mind turnovers are kinda the extra creme that comes with solid players. Thats why some poor teams (ISU) get them. They have a few really talented players that are able to feel where to be at the right time. I think we may be missing those players, although I'll submit that cody is that kind of guy. Be ready for him to make some turnovers in the near future. I almost wish he was playing corner or safety.
