Where We Speak Less-than-Fondly of Former Coaches

It's also really unfair to criticize Barney Cotton for his head coaching tenure, but he is tied for the worst winning % in school history, so he can also suck it.

I'm going to speak glowingly about a former coach, and say this *might* be his best contribution to the program:

I’m aware of that. I just wanted @billdozer15 to explain why calling Riley a female name is considered an insult.
I think if Michelle Riley coached the team for the past 3 years we would be much better off. Women can be meaner then men and the players would have spent more time in the weight room due to the constant nagging  :P

And they probably would have been on a better diet.

I always thought it was cool when Pelini would stage these sorts of things. However, looking at this now, I wonder if this is ACTUALLY how Riley's teams practiced every day.

I don't know about freedom, but he had enough time.
Agree with you there.  The best coaches show improvement trends within their program within their first 3 years.  If significant improvement doesn't happen within the first 3 years, it rarely happens with that coach.  Riley's teams got worse record-wise compared to Bo, and his best year in 2016 was basically the type of year which got Bo fired.

I'm not trying to make this a post about defending Bo, but within recent history, Riley had time to show the type of coach he was (a bad one).

If we are 4-8 a couple years from now then NU has other issues than coaching.  If Scott Frost can't get Nebraska boys to winning, it can't be done.
The magic number is 3 years. If Frost’s teams aren’t showing significant improvement by year 3, the odds are against it ever happening under Frost.
