So it looks like the West did better than the East, all things considered, in this year's Bowl Games:
Biggest win for the B1G West: Minny over Auburn
Biggest win for the B1G East: Penn State over Memphis
B1G West: 2-2
B1G East: 2-3
Considering that many of our games had B1G teams playing 'up' vs. superior teams in the pecking order, a 4-5 Bowl Record isn't too bad, but you'll never hear ESPN say that or actually look at the games and matchups critically, as it would cast doubt on the ACC and SEC.

For most, the only thing this bowl season will be remembered for in regards to the BIG 10 is falling just short in the biggest games.
When the SEC doesn't do well in bowls, then bowl games don't matter. When they do well, then bowl games show how much better their conference is...

Not only isn't it too bad, there were a few games in there where the B1G should have won. Indiana comes to mind. I'm still not sure why they were as ill prepared for an on-side kick as they were. Then, they miss the field goal at the end. Wisconsin totally dominated Oregon, but it's still pretty tough to win a game when you continually turn the ball over. Ohio State had all the momentum and could have put the game away in the first half, but you just can't continually settle for field goals inside the red zone.
The biggest disappointment in the B1G had to be Michigan. Bama had absolutely nothing to play for. They had significant players decide to not even suit up for the game. I just don't get why the QB play has been as bad at Michigan as it has under Harbaugh.

Big 12 Embarrassments & Big 10 Underachievers
Sure, the Huskers have issues. But at least being in the Big 12 is not one of them.
The Not-So-Big-12 took an image hit this past season. This is a conference that every year goes looking for respect. And they can’t find it, either. In bowl games, the two “powerhouse” Big 12 programs both ended up as embarrassments.
LSU schooled, toyed with, dominated, and embarrassed the Sooners who now must lick their wounds and repair their national image. The Baylor Bears - Bearcubs? - were not up to facing the likes of a Georgia. And the Baylor coach may be heading out the door for a bigger gig.
And the underachievers from Austin once again failed to join the college ball elites.
But the Big 10 can’t do much bragging, either. A lackluster 4 wins, 5 losses in bowl games.
Teams beaten in bowls: Memphis, Wake Forest... and a USC and Auburn that was not up to their traditional power standards.
Teams lost to in bowls: Alabama, Clemson, Oregon, California, and Tennessee. Clearly the better quality teams from the teams beaten in bowls.
Bottom line? Big 12 and Big 10 have work to do to join the really big boys. Ohio State will always be around as they get the recruits. But Michigan, Wisconsin, and the Huskers and others need to elevate just to get to be the best in their own conference.
But the Big 12 is still the conference looking for real football identity. And they may never find it. At least people knew who the Big 8 was.
And, who was one of the big (red) dogs (in a good way).

Comparing the B1G and the Big 12 this bowl season isn't close imo. Ohio St showed they are every bit as good as Clemson. Minny knocked off Auburn who just beat Alabama! Wisconsin arguably looked like the better team against the best the P12 had to offer. We finished 4-5 but looked head and shoulders above the B12 imo.

Agreed. One could even argue that Ohio State got the short end of the calls all night long and that cost at least 6 points.
Yes, the B1G looked significantly better than the Big XII and ACC at least. But that won't stop ESPN from pimping the ACC as the second-best because of their new deal.
