I dunno...does Obama's ego play football?Why don't we just have a 600 pound nose tackle and run a 1-6?

This is a great place to talk about Obama. I can't believe I didn't think of it first.Obama's ego
It was a just some humor to go along with your 600 pund NT comment...lighten up.This is a great place to talk about Obama. I can't believe I didn't think of it first.Obama's ego
That's true only to a degree. There are definitely differences in the personnel required to run a 3-4 versus a 4-3. The biggest difference is on the DL. In a 4-3 you can have DEs that weigh 240 or so and DTs around 285. In a 3-4 DEs are generally 275+ and NTs are 330. Now those are 3-4 NFL ideals, but in terms of personnel, the is quite a difference between a DL in a 3-4 versus a 4-3. ILBs are more similar in a 3-4 and 4-3 than they are different. However, OLBs in a 4-3 are typically smaller than they are in a 3-4.Most of the fronts, even in the "4-3" really turn into odd fronts anyway, you see more 5 man fronts during the game then you do straight 4 man fronts. The 3-4 is your old 5-2 and almost no team plays a straight 3-4. 3-4 teams always (yes, I know, not always) walk a linebacker or two up and up playing a 5 man front anyway.
The difference is not so much the 3-4 and 4-3 and so on, it is the versatility of the people playing in it.
Yep, that is what I said. It is the versatility of the players in each scheme that are different. In the end, most of the time, you end up with a 5 man front though. That's true only to a degree. That's especially annoying considering that our genius plan is containment.Wish we could contain mobile QBs. Stuff like this cannot happen:

Kinda depends on the player. Kinda really depends on the player. In fact, it totally depends on the player and his ability.Body type of players is not versatility...
if everything went perfect all the time, teams would never score on us. Im sure they set this up through other plays, sh#t happens, its football. Taylor was just as open when he scored against Ohio State, should they change their "genius" system? That's especially annoying considering that our genius plan is containment.Wish we could contain mobile QBs. You might be talking about a way different area. There isn't a NT in the 4-3. Maybe from the 5-2 days where a 5-man defensive front, I imagine, lessens the size requirement considerably compared to a 3-man line.It might have been a different era, but the best NT at NU was 6'1" and 240#. But he was quick and fast - he ran around the back side of the OU center and still tackled the QB for a loss from behind on an option.
This would be a good argument if Nebraska had a good defense last year against running QBs. It's not like we're pointing out a rarity here. Nebraska played horrible against every mobile quarterback they faced (Ohio State, Wisconsin, Michigan, Northwestern). Obviously there is something wrong with the system when facing mobile quarterbacks.if everything went perfect all the time, teams would never score on us.
