Who does not redshirt?

Of the newly signed Huskers, whom do you suppose will not redshirt?

Who is most likely to play this year?

My guess is:

1. Gabe Miller

2. Randy Gregory

3. Terrell Newby

4. D.J. Singleton

Gregory is a 3 for 3 kid. So, I guess he'd be #1 on my list.

Based on the running back management of 2011, you'd think both Taylor and Newby will get playing time.

As much as I don't care for our #4 RB to "burn" a redshirt (assuming Cross is still #3), I think we'll see both RBs in the mix. I think they can both contribute, I just don't think there are enough carries to go around.

It will be interesting to see how Bo handles it. With his comments about thinking he redshirted too many last year and a big class, we might see some more true freshmen than usual.

I sure hope not.

The RB position with Ameer and Imani is two-deep and they are, respectively, a junior and a sophomore. Unless one of them get hurt, then you redshirt both Taylor and Newby. That way, the two freshman get acclimated, get stronger, learn the blocking schemes as redshirts and then the next year the distribution of RB's will be ideal (where we then would have a senior, a junior, and two freshman).

By all means, redshirt both RB's unless there is an injury. Or, if Cross turns out to be a role player only (just short yardage) then redshirt one of the two freshman and let the other back up Ameer.

Absolutely no chance both of them redshirt. At least one of them will play in the first half against Wyoming. I'll be surprised if either one do.

Gregory is a 3 for 3 guy. He will be on the field, and he will be good.

On the OL we lose Justin Jackson and Seung Hoon Choi. I think the two JUCO OL, Finnin and Kondolo, will get some run.

As much as I hope Imani can become an every-down RB backup, I don't know. I don't think you can keep both freshman RB off the field. I'm partial to Taylor, but they're both great. Battle it out in camp, boys!

I think we will also see one of the athletes get on the field somewhere (special teams). Maybe DMagic, Gerry, or the Fordon kid.

1. Gregory

2. Finnin

3. Kondolo

4. Singleton

5. Newby and/or Taylor

6. Gerry

7. Carter or Hart, whichever is better

8. I would also be surprised if Collins redshirted

I think those are probably the best candidates to see immediate playing time IMO.

I think almost every one plays. It looks like Pelini is starting to realize - getting these guys ready for the sophomore season is much more valuable than throwing them into the fire as rfreshman + that 5th year of eligibility. The fact that we actually needed freshman this year and didn't burn shirts is tough to swallow. We shouldn't be that thin...but we were because of past decisions. Rshirting just reduces the size of incoming classes and thins you down to 2012.

My guess for 2013 non redshirted players:

Adam Taylor or Terrell Newby(1 of the 2)

Nathan Gerry

Chongo Kondolo

Matt Finnin

Randy Gregory

DJ Singelton

Gabe Miller

Possibly Cethan Carter, Earnest Suttles, Zach Hannon, Dwayne Johnson

I think with depth concerns on both lines last year that they may be willing to burn a shirt or two to have the right depth. Of course if they dont need to burn the redshirt they wont...this is just my guess! GBR!

Newby will 100% not be redshirting. I see Taylor possibly doing so.

I don't see the JUCOs redshirting either along with Singleton and maybe Carter.

A lot of these kids will play this year so its easier to look at it the other way. Stanton I would think is a sure thing redshirt. I would guess both RB's play. I would guess both TE's at least get a serious look at playing. You would think Gladney and Dixon could redshirt but there are some guys coming back from injury so who knows. On the O-line, I would think a couple of guys would redshirt - maybe The Rock and Knevel so they can bulk up. Can't rule anyone out from playing on the D-line with that mess being what it is. Same with the LB's. Gerry, Singleton, and D. Martinez will probably all see time at safety. Boaz Joseph may be the only sure thing redshirt on D. Miller will start at LS. After Bo's comments yesterday about redshirting people, I don't think he's going to hesitate to play freshmen this year.
