Who owns the nickname?

There are six nicknames that represent two teams in the four major sports. Who has the real claim to the name? I'll start with these three and may do a poll with the other three later.

Looks like I am the odd one out for the Panthers.

Since the "Florida Panther" is a real animal and the hockey team was named first I went with Florida.

The Panthers question really needs a 'who cares' option.

Might also be worth noting that the 'Arizona' Cardinals were also once the St. Louis Cardinals.

I've always thought the hick name should stay with the city ie. the Cleveland Browns.
