1000%, if you’re a sophomore and above and don’t provide clear value over a younger guy then there simply isn’t a reason to be on the roster. Based off Dana’s previous offenses, something tells me HH represents significant more value and upside than a slow, oft injured Te who also can’t block very well

I think the bolded might start becoming the benchmark to use for staying or going.  Unsure what year I'd use, but I'd like to see what percentage of successful players took 3-4 years to shine.  With the portal it seems like most will attempt to move on in year 2 if they get limited to no playing time.  

Rhule seems to have embraced and is learning the portal in contrast to his "program builder" reputation.  As we struggle to become relevant and win at a regular clip the portal is the key. No time (yet) for the slow burn of building a program.  Once we become a perennial fixture in winning, I think keeping the "majority" of good players on the roster increases as they see the vets going to the draft and know that they could be a 2+ year starter/contributor.

I’m not sure how many freshman we will take in the future.  Certain positions, sure. No longer have the roster spots to chance on development. 

 
I'm glad to see it from Rhule.  The notion of 90% high school recruits and expecting to be able to wait 2-3 years for development would've gotten him fired.  That era is gone until they start having guys sign contracts.

I like the 4 star ratio of this past class.  Go all in for a few less guys with higher potential. The lines are where hs recruiting still

very important in My opinion. Other positions seem to be easier to fill transfer market

And nobody knows how long that is going to be when players will be able to sign contracts.  Also you won't see a lot of scholarships handed out to Nebraska kids just bc anymore.

I’m wondering about some of the legacy kids on the roster. Is Booker one of them?  I’m assuming Benning is good enough- or is he a free pass regardless?

It seems like the line guys are more likely to stay at one school. I’m not sure if that’s true, but it seems that way.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out long term. Nobody should use this year as an example for the future. All rosters have to be cut drastically which caused thousands of players to be in the portal. That won’t be the case next year. 
 

Programs will have to be way more selective on who they recruit out of HS. They will still plug in players from the portal. But, I expect that to be heavily from lower levels with players that have proven they can perform. Nebraska won’t be taking a bunch of transfers that were buried on D1 depth charts. 
 

I would be very surprised if we took 15+ transfers every year going forward.

That, plus two new(-ish) coordinators this year, who might be prioritizing different types of players than their predecessors.
