Who's our next coach?

I fail to see the big dollar players they had that gave them the advantage to beat everybody this year.

Did they overpay a bunch of 2-3* players or something? There's a sprinkling of 4* in there. But our threads on players would laugh at Rhule for grabbing a 2* or 3* RB out of the portal. Or four 3* and one 2* o-linemen and five 3* d-linemen.

Agree...hence why I would grade Indiana as an A+ with coaching and player development and likely a B from a talent perspective.

I think the reactions I'm getting here might be thinking that I'm coming off as jealous or that I've got NU in mind with these comments.

Not the case. It's not that they didn't win the title fair and square - they're on a level playing field with every other team.

I'm just saying that the "worst-to-absolute-best" turnaround doesn't happen without NIL, in my opinion.

Cignetti will likely start getting 4 and 5 star players and their teams will be scary. But he may pass on expensive 5* flashy high school prima donnas. Because he doesn't need them to win.

They won by playing fundamental football and stuffing Miami's run and screens anytime it was 3rd and short. Occasionally, the talent for Miami would break out, like the long run and the quick passes from Beck to score and get to 3 points late in the 4th. You could see any mistake IU made in their fundamentals because a Miami D-lineman would toss them aside like a rag doll, or a Miami RB/WR would take off on a big play.

The game for IU was just being in the right place the majority of the time, using the correct techniques, and frustrating Miami with 3 and outs followed by long drives on offense; using 2*-3* RBs and a 3* WR in Becker.

Nebrasketball is on the same plane as IU's football program? No. Check back if we win a title this season, though.

In what way? Cignetti has never had a losing season (a few 6-5s at IUP and Elon), Fritz has 6. Including a 4-8 in 2024 and a 2-10 at Tulane in 2021, in his 6th year there. Not saying Fritz is a bad coach, but despite being similar ages Fritz has been a head coach since 1993 and has had some ups and downs. Cignetti didn't get a head coaching job until 2011, and while not all of his seasons were like the last two he hasn't ever had a really bad year. I don't see any significant similarities beyond age.

I didn’t say exactly like CC
You cut off his last two years at Tulane looks like where he went 23-4 then was hired at UH, a team that was 2-7 in conference before he was hired and turned them around after 1 down season finished 10-3 beating LSU in their bowl game
We’re too good to hire a coach that used to be at Houston tho, especially the guy who turned them around after our current OC was their coach
