Who's our next coach?

Thank-you Steve Peterson. Frank was fired for a couple of blow out loses. MR was blown out 4x this year. We don't want NU to slide into mediocracy now.

Rhule and the moron who decided to extend his contract just set us back four years. We have to endure at least another brutal embarrassing season. Please do not hire another 0.5 coach and one who has lost 20 consecutive times to ranked opponents. There is no way in hell Penn state was interested in Rhule. No winning program would ever hire Rhule. He gets owned by every opposing coach even interim ones. He has made us the embarrassment of the BIG. I watched Iowa play like men and Rhule’s team plays like little boys. This will never change no matter how many coaches he replaces because the real problem is him. Hire a winning coach even from an FCS team. I don’t understand why we keep hiring the Rhules and Rileys. We made a huge mistake by not hiring Bret bielema. His team plays physical. Rhule’s teams are puff.
You are correct in that Penn State was never seriously interested in Rhule. He may have even sensed that. Yet with his verbal skills he was able to put one over on Dannen and obtain an extension.

Well that’s not very hard
That's why he sends a Christmas card to the U each year. A little thank you for getting him into the HOF. Now that I think about it, if Jirk Ferentz and his mediocrity can make the HOF, maybe Frank does the same and we can claim 3 consecutive hall-of-famers??

Ranking fourth for most victories among active FBS head coaches at the time of his retirement in 2021, Frank Solich built a legacy of winning at both Ohio and Nebraska that has earned him a spot in the College Football Hall of Fame. The Cleveland, Ohio, product now becomes the first inductee ever from Ohio and the seventh coach from Nebraska to enter the Hall.

Because Troy Dannen stupidly extended Rhule this season, Nebraska is stuck with Rhule for at least one more season. With that said, I think we need to look at raw data to assess Rhule's performance:

1. Rhule is 19-19 in his first 3 seasons at Nebraska. This is the same record as Mike Riley had at Nebraska, and Riley was fired after 3 seasons. Additionally, Rhule has the benefit of NIL and the portal that Riley did not have.

2. Rhule is 30-46 in his last 6 seasons as a head coach. Three of these seasons do include his time in the NFL, but when you consider the reality that college FB is becoming more like the professional league, it's doesn't paint a good picture of Rhule's ability to change the trajectory of the program.

3. The Huskers have become less competitive against Power Conference Opponents in Rhule's tenure. The most concerning aspect of this is that 2025 is the easiest BIG schedule they have had in years. I created the table below to capture the points scored and the points allowed against power conference opponents. You will see a drastic downward trend in 2025. Interestingly, 2021 was the team's most competitive year when you consider how closely we played against power conference competition.
