I'm hoping Jason Peter is kidding, but I'm pretty sure he's not.

The problems currently facing UNL and its Chancellor go WAY beyond the status of the football coach. Unless you can funnel money directly from the football program into the academic shortfall, they shouldn't be in the same conversation.

Many Alabama fans are wanting Kalen DeBoer fired after going 11-4 and the blowout playoff loss to Indiana.

Fans, in general, are very unrealistic. They do drive coaching decisions because they ultimately are what drive the huge money machine. However, it isn't a few fans but rather the overall fan base as a whole. We have quite a few opposing fans creating accounts here. They like to show up to throw mud during bad times. Those guys don't matter in the grand scheme of things but they do sway fragile minded opinions...

He is not joking. Most are unhappy with Dannen extending Rhule for no reason. We are now stuck with Rhule longer than potentially warranted due to this extension. Jason Peter simply wants accountablity for a very bad leadership decision.

On the contrary, I'd say Husker fans have had their expectations tempered for 25 years, to the point where we are humble, realistic, and generally patient with every new coach until it's clear that things aren't moving forward. Most folks are disappointed by Rhule's third season, but most share the belief that a 7-6 season and a bowl game still earn you at least a fourth or fifth.

I don't think there are a lot of opposing fan accounts here. But I do think a handful of Husker fans are in love with the Hot Take format and scorched earth posts. They are louder and more prolific on social media, but they are outnumbered by the more casual Husker fans who are still extremely loyal and don't want to fire anybody. They're the same folks who would have been happy to hand the job to former Husker QB Mickey Joseph without interviewing any outsiders.

Most HuskerBoard posters are reasonably smart football watchers who are understandably caught somewhere in between.

I'm talking about the reason Dannen is resigning. Some people seem to think the Chancellor of a major multi-billion dollar learning institution should be judged by the football program. Matt Rhule's extension is dwarfed by other issues facing the University.

I don't know specific accounts but I have seen quotes from them mocking us on other forums claiming to have accounts here. There are several CU and Iowa fans here and a handful from a few other schools. Some of them like to get on the game day threads, or other threads discussing negative stuff. This is just Jason Peter flapping his gums again about something he knows nothing about.

The UNL Chancellor has nothing to do with UNL athletics anymore. A few years ago the UNL Athletic Department was moved under the University of Nebraska System President (who at the time was Ted Carter, then he bailed for Ohio St). Dannen and his reports roll up under Jeff Gold.

i believe i can identify 1 of them. can't "prove" it but they sure post like an opposing fan trying to cause trouble.

Fair point about the specifics but the sentiment is there regarding Dannens bad decision to extend Rhule. That rubbed many people the wrong way.

Being retired I had a little time to go look at that allbuffs site read through about the last 4 pages they sure are haters but I couldn’t identify or prove that any of them come over here and cause hate and discontent but I wouldn’t be surprised if some do and I’m sure some here probably go over to that site and stir the pot on occasion.
