Whose 2012 season would you rather have?

Winning championships tends to trump whatever negative you can say about the regular season. How they got there is ultimately irrelevant. The point is they showed up when it mattered and won the conference.

True. Until of course it's our Huskers that sneak in with a 7-5 regular season record. Just be factual. You know that's how it would be. A back door conference title would not be enough to rescue Bo from a 7-5 regular season, regardless how they got there.

A win is a win, a loss is a loss, and a conference title is a conference title. If anything, winning something of actual substance for a change would give him more rope, regardless of how easy the path was.

Wisconsin got where they were at the end of the season because 2 better teams were ineligible and 1 lopsided victory. Nebraska fought all year long and aside from 2 games played very well.

At the end of the year, there are more questions about Wisconsin then Nebraska going into this year. So I will take the Huskers season

I disagree. I'm sorry, but a 10-4 or 11-3 record this year even with a conference championship is still going to result in the "but but but" crowd. This is simply the life as a Nebraska football fan.

It's common sense. If we was in Wisconsin's shoes a year ago, Conference championship or not, there would have howls over a 7-5 regular season, regardless how close the games were.

Not that it's bad to have the expectations we have. But that's the way it would've been.

I don't think anyone's denying that. I do think a conference championship this year will quite nearly everyone. Likely would me. 10-4 with a conference championship will be tough...don't think we can lose 3 regular season games and sneak in. 11-3 is more likely...and it means we lose the Rose Bowl game. The off season mood will be dictated less by the win/loss in that game, and more about how we go about our business. If we beat a 1 or 2 loss OSU to face a 1 or 2 loss Oregon, and then get blown out...it'll be a similar offseason.

I think the common theme with nearly everyone in this thread, and on this board that are considered "negative" is that the blowouts have to stop. Some people see them as just another loss, others like myself see them as an embarrassment. That's likely the reasoning behind the 9 votes for Wisconsin (certainly was mine), and if we get blown out in the Rose Bowl, even with 11 wins and a championship I'll still be leaning towards that. When we aren't even competitive with top 25 teams, we have issues. I would like to go through a season without being embarrassed. It's been few years.

Mine was summed up by my analogy that it's better to go 9-7 and win the Super Bowl than 13-3 and be one-and-done. It makes no logical sense to say the team with more regular season wins had the more successful season.

That, and I don't really care that their path to the championship game was easier. That was out of Wisconsin's control, they did what they had to do to get to that game. We had an opportunity to do something about it if we felt like they didn't belong on that field. Turns out we were the ones that didn't belong on that field.

And I agree with you, Count A. Bility, if we would have gone 7-5 there would have been howls, even if we won the title. But who cares, it still would have ultimately been a more successful season.

I have yet to vote in this poll because I can't decide between the two. The blowouts and brazilion yards given up to UCLA are what keep me from voting for our season. There's just no excuse for that.

It seems like the factors that contributed to our 10-4 season were more in our control, while Wiscy's had a lot to do with coaching changes and sheer bad luck, not to mention the fact that Ohio State was ineligible for the CCG.

If I remember correctly they were replacing the best QB that had ever played there, their Oline coach and then their Oline coach again. It seems they got it together after the second Oline coach came on board. Their losses were close, even to Ohio State and Penn State. We had close wins that were some what lucky, we could very well have had several more losses. The kids played hard for those wins, but the ball bounces differently sometimes. If Belima was still there, I would say they were in good shape. Not really knowing that much about the Badgers returning players or the new coach hard for me to say. We have problems, will they go away this year or will the be worse, who knows.

I am into winning games, not decided by missed field goals, bad calls. If you lined Wisconsin and Nebraska side by side and asked an outsider which was the better team who do you think they would pick? Who has scoreboard, as we used to say?

Good poll question.......but I would take the Husker's 2012 season......there's something to be said about the Huskers earning a division title, rather than having one conferred by default ,through tOSU's ineligibility :bigredn:

If we had Wisconsin's season everyone would be crying that we beat down on a depleated broken down team in the CCG missing their best DT having to move a DE inside because of all the injuries, and losing their starting center on O. Not to mention probably our best LB early in the season. The excuses would be flying..."if they were healthy we never would have beat them" Barely beating Northern Iowa by 4, should have lost to Utah State.

We were just a broken down team at the end of the year, with the time off we got healthier and gave Georgia a game, still missing vital pieces on defense.

3 elite players (1-3 round NFL draft picks) one at each level (DL LB S) and we are a dominate team.
