Why Bo?

I read his post and thought it was nothing more than a newbie trying to stir up a flame. I guess he was successful. Maybe it's just me, but I tend to take offense to the fairweather fan that he stated he is when he "lost interest after Billy C was hired".

How long did Bo coach here? 1 year? 3 years?

Have not been impressed with Bo because as one poster said above. When the talented teams came to play we did not. Again he was better than Craig B so he looked all world. The D loved him I will give him that. But the D loved Charlie also but he was not a head coach type. He was not a guy who you wanted as the face of the program. Charlie was charlie and did a heck of a job for us for many years. Did Bo get us all the DL's and LB's that are pro right now or was that Blake? Because that is what it really is all about. Talent and developing talent.

Someone asked so I will tell you. I really like Peterson of Boise St. I think he and his offense would do well here. Now maybe he just wants to stay on the West Coast and wants no part of us and is eyeing UCLA or something. I could accept that. But I am frustrated because I am not in the know and have no idea who we are really looking at and if Peterson has even been contacted. I just feel that Bo is not the answer and I am stunned that sooooooo many Nebraska Fans are in love with the guy.

As for Gill, I like him and I think he would do well here. He is not going to bring back TO's option back like everyone thinks. He has always wanted to pass the ball. I think he would get the foundation back. He would be the face of the program that we all could be proud of. What he does as a coach will not delete anything he did from 1980-83. He will always be a part of the "Scoring Explosion". Did Rozier doing Coke stop him from being a past Heisman winner? No. He is still the best to ever play here.

Gill has proved that he can coach at the CEO level. Nobody would give him a shot so he had to go to Buffalo. Now is Buffalo that much different than Bowling Green? Would a lot of schools have wanted to get on the Urban Meyer train before he went to Utah and have given him a chance before the Gates got their hands on him? I am sure they would have now but they got no chance now.

I am just afraid that if Bo is given the job we will sink lower. Mizzu is gaining ground and so is CU. We don't have 4 years to blow off. This has to be the right hire or we will be done for 10 more years IMHO.

 
T.Gill is the right choice if we want a real Husker running the program. I think he will do a very good job and have a winning record each year.

Bo seems to have people thinking this is the guy to have, because are defense was........, well we all no what. Don't know much about how he could handle running the whole team. Probably has a winning record each year also.

Brian Kelly if he were to come here, will probably be one of the top coaches in the nation in 2 to 3 years. His track record says it all. When you have to go head to head in recruiting with the top teams in the Big 10, and still be able to compete with them, that says a lot about him and his coaching. Its always been hard to pull recruits out of that area for Nebraska. He can do that. There are always plenty of kids left over in places like Calif and Tex, so we will still be able to get some of those. But the area hes good at has always been tough for the Huskers to pull top players out of. IMHO....

Well news flash, it is not K-States job to stop them from scoring it was Bo job to do that. He did not get it done and now he was going to attack an old man over it? That may be the fire you like to see from your DC but not your head man.

And if bo was so great why is LSU letting him go without a fight? He coached here 2 years and people think he is from Nebraska or something. I lost interest after Billy C was hired and I will lose interest again for another 4 years if they hire Bo :madash

When K-State's roster was healthy in 2003 they handed a lot of butts to a lot of people and didn't even care if they got the butts mixed up-- they were just tearing them off and handing them out. When healthy, K-State was a NC contender that year, and NU, well, was coming off of 2002 and with a new coaching staff.

The point was he went after Snyder on the field. That is a sign to me that the guy can not handle himself when times are tough. I was impressed with Randy Shannon of Miami after the OU game they had this year. The press was asking Shannon if he felt Stoops was running up the score by passing in the 4 quarter. He said no. It was 3rd and 10's when they passed and those are passing downs no matter what time of the game it is. He said it was not up to stoops to stop scoring it was up to his defense.

Now I am not going to get into it that we are not Miami. Don't miss the point. Bo is not the guy we want as the head man at Nebraska if we want to have a top 10 team again. We can not have a coach here that feels like he is the victim. Billy C was a victim. He just did not have HIS guys. He did not have the talent. He did not have this or that. We don't want to go down that road again.

And the thing you have to ask yourself is why is Bo avalible? If he is so great why is he not a Head coach in the MAC? Why was he not considered for A&M or Baylor or any other place. I don't hear his name in the LSU search that is about to come. I don't see G-Tech mentioning him. Nobody is mentioning him. Does that tell you anything?

Now the same could be said about Gill and Kelly. They are in the MAC earning their stripes. And I mentioned it before. Urban Meyer was in the MAC and many schools could have gotten him early. Then he gets to Utah and blows up and only the top 5 programs had a chance at him. And lets not kid ourselves. We are not a top 5 progam. We have won national titles but it is harder to do here than at Ohio State, Florida, Texas, USC, and FSU where they have national names, warm weather, Huge Talent base, and the same if not more funds than at Nebraska. Lets get on one of these guys early before we have to get into a bidding war with some other program.

The same year K-State handed it to OU in the B12 Championship if I remember correctly.

 
In 2003, KState was definitely playing NC caliber football. Their only losses came when their QB was injured or suspended (first quarter of their bowl game). They made OU look foolish in the Big 12 Championship game. It was one of the few times I've ever seen Bob Stoops outcoached.
