ff - Im suprised you made this mistake - those were all position coaches that your man FRANK hired - not head coaches unfortunatly sometimes the baby does get thrown out with the bath water - IF Frank wasnt such a poor recruiter MAYBE those guys would still have a job (just something to ponder)

You just answered your own question. So you saying Tom Osborne wasn't running the option right when he lost in 1990 to Georgia Tech 45-21 or in 1991 to Miami 22-0? What about in 1992 when we played Florida St and they went up 20-0 and won 27-14. What about when we lost 19-0 to Arizona St in 1996? Name 1 time in the last 15 years NU has gone down by 21 points or more and comeback to win that game with the option?

Running the ball and getting 3 yards here, 4 yards there isn't going to get it done because all you do when you rush the ball play after play is eat up the clock and for a team down 21-0, there's no way in hell you are going to do it. Rushing is nice when you have a 21-0 lead and trying to eat time off the clock, but when it's you on the other side of that coin, it's not pretty

College football hasnt changed that much in 4 years, no matter how much you want to make-believe. :wacko:

SPEED ON DEFENSE!! That's why option football, with the exception of the military institutions, is dead! Did you see what happened when Crouch and the '01 team went up against Miami in the NC game? Let's face it, speed kills and team defensive speed is too much these days at too many schools. Plus I don't think you'll have a guy as fast as Crouch come around for quite some time.

Has the game evolved, sure, it always does. Read Frosts blog, he would know, he has played the game. He even said that the players are not THAT much faster and THAT much bigger now. To prove that, look at NU's D, this years D is not anywhere as close to the speed that the Ds had in the 90s. Switzer said the same thing at the NU-OU game.

Almost any offense would work, given then right players and coaches. The option has proven that is can win games consistently in college football.

Was this the same Frost who got cut by the Jets and Packers because he lacked the speed on defense? Surely you are not referring to him, because that guy should know speed is what this game is about. Maybe you are talking about the other Frost who played behind a dominant offensive line that could move the Empire state building if it wanted.

I laugh out at guys who played 10, 20, 30 years ago, come out and say NU should do this and do that because that's how it was done in their days. If that was the case, we would be breaking down game film on movie projectors instead of dvd
