Why Mike Riley should be fired now

We lost 7 games because we have NO DRAFTABLE SENIORS!!!! Get a clue people. The boorish prick that was fired did a piss poor job of recruiting. Riley has to rebuild the talent level to win on a consistant basis.
So if Riley has elite NFL talent...he can win more than 5 games?
Isn't that kind of true of all coaches?
Part of the reason why Saban wins a lot of games every year.
I hear that!
Then translate it to Nebraska and you will see the light.
Good thing we have a great top 5 recruiting class for 2016.....
You are right, it will be pretty good, likely twice as good as we have seen in the last 7 years and maybe as good as a Callahan class.
Yeah.....29th by 247.

And 2 of the top 4 being brought on by the previous staff.

The last staff was out before the last class was signed, you are always good for a funny! hint, rankings mean nothing in November... last staff....Ha... Ha... ha.. ha..

So, are you saying that Rairdon and Brokop didn't commit to the previous staff?

Not sure what is BS about it, just put yourself in the shoes of a coach that Nebraska wants to hire. Do you go there after seeing them fire a nine win coach and then the very next guy only gets one year? Maybe some no-name comes here but I guarantee you that no elite coach would want to put himself in that position.

Like I said, if I were the AD, Riley wouldn't even be here today and we wouldn't be having this conversation but alas....

Let's count our lucky stars that you aren't the AD. You would completely destroy Nebraska athletics.

I think he should stay 2 more years. No sarcasm.

Disagree with the "Play style", "Identity Fit" points.

"Future longevity" is just a re-hash of the "Identity" (NU can't play with non-moble QB, WTH)

"Lack of fan backing" I back him (for now, despite the losses)

"Recruiting" This the key point IMO. If he cannot recruit he should go. I give him 2 years to get a team together to run his scheme/philosophy/ etc

"Husker Nation Divided" Scott Frost LOL; winning coaches are employed somewhere where recruiting is easier; up and comers that you have NO IDEA who they are, until they are not up and coming anymore.

if we fire mike...let's make sure we only offer 1 year contracts from now on. buying out 5 year contracts every damn year will break even the richest schools.
Please, the money we're giving to Bo and Riley is chump change to the athletic department. They can afford a $5 mil salary for a coach if they wanted.

I have never heard this before and I have been a Husker fan since 1960. I can remember many games on my knees in front of the TV begging TO to throw the ball. I remember the option offense run to the point that our opponents ignored the pass and focused on stopping the running game- daring us to throw. When TO was under pressure about never winning the big one, he experiemented with trick plays and some passing. But I would have never believed TO had a passing offense.

I think Ferragamo was the closest we had to being a pro style QB.
I wasn't alive then but from watching old Husker documentaries, Osborne loved slinging the ball around so much it drove Devaney bonkers and yes, he changed his offensive mentality and a 9-win season was the result.

While running a pro style offense at NU Osborne sent three quarterbacks to the NFL. Jerry Tagge, Dave Humm and Vince Ferragamo. Ferragamo led the Rams to a Superbowl in 1979.

I sometimes think we shouldn't count any of them until they actually show up and enroll in school.

True enough, lots of minds change up to signing day.

Heck, even being a huge Husker fan, and if I were a legacy, I probably wouldn't play for the Riley clown show. Good point.

But you predictably failed to answer the original question.

Most every one who is associated with football at any level says they would want their kid to play for Coach Riley. The have been quoted time and time again.

David Humm was also a pure passing QB. I remember the offensive philosophy change, but I was not sure it would work.

Great! This guarantees that we will have a class full of 5 star recruits!
