why some teams are on TV so much

I see Va. Tech is on this Thursday again...just like last Thursday... How is it the Hokies are (seemingly) such a draw? I have long felt that South Carolina was also on the short list for exposure relative to the attractiveness of their football. Maybe I'm imagining things but it sure seems like the exposure level is pretty high for these teams, relative to that of the average team without traditional power status.

 
Teams that play more Thursday games just don't have to compete with air time like on Saturday. It all has to do with what there is to broadcast on certain days.

 
Even back to the Beamer days (the dude with the turkey gobbler neck) he built his program with national exposure on Thursday nights. I believe Snyder did the same. Then it seems towards the Novemberish time of the season in recent years Tuesday and Wednesday feature MAC games.

As Sandhills said a great way to get your team exposure but now it seems there are quite a few games on Thursdays so you don't own 100% of the audience and now their is always an NFL game to compete with too.

Edit: Don't Forget games on Friday nights too....

Another thing I've noticed sometimes it seems once teams play a weird game of the week they keep doing it for a couple weeks. I wonder if this gets them more into a regular rhythm. i've noticed in previous years when a MAC team plays like on a Wed, they play up to 4 weeks in a row on Wed. /shrug just my observation.

 
Thursdays used to be exciting for college football. Always. And yet it hasn't been that way for a couple years IMO. Something seems off.

 
I remember when ever the Huskers played at Okie Lite the game was on a Thursday. Coaching a 9th grade FB game at Waverly and they had the radio broadcast of the game playing during the 9th grade game.
