Why was Taylor in for so long?

Three-Star Recruit
I was surprised to see that Taylor was in deep into the third quarter today. It seems to me that the offense had done a lot of what it needed to do to be prepared for the USC game and that leaving Taylor in is just risking injury versus any possible experience or record. Also it would seem to me that getting Ganz some more work would have been beneficial.

I was thinking the same thing. Me and my dad kept wondering why Ganz didn't get in earlier. Luckily ZT didn't get hurt.

I didn't like it one bit

to bring his stats up a little bit?...that's the only thing i can think of... me and the wife will have a cold now for sitting out in the rain all day, but it was absolutely worth it!

Are you trying to say that because he only threw 23 passes that he needed to be in that long? If so, I can't disagree more. I think he should have been out at half time and give Joe the 3rd quarter and Beau the 4th.

I thought they should have given him a few drives at the beginning of the 2nd half, but not too much. After the td to Purify, I think he should have been taken out.

As I stated in another post, I think they were trying to get him to 5 TDs but lack of execution prevented that. Otherwise it was a very good day for Taylor.

i'm not trying to justify or defend him staying in for so long. i'm just saying that maybe that had some effect for cally's decision.

There is another possible reason. Remeber, our receivers didn't always look too great last week (some inexcusible drops), and Herian and others haven't had any game experience with Taylor except for last week.

It could simply be that the coaches wanted to help develop rhytym. No mater how much you practice, you can't simulate the game.

And with USC coming up...

I agree w/ this more than trying to pad stats or break records.

these are all very good reasons, but then I look at Louisville losing their running back in the second half of a game that he shouldn't have been in, in my opinion. Things can happen and losing Taylor would be it for the season so that was my overall concern.

The only reason I justify him being in long is to work on the timing for the offense, however I was very concerned about risking injury.

It's cool Calahan has enough trust in the line to know Taylor won't get hit a lot if he stays in! Plus some more in game chemistry between WR/QB never hurts
