Why were both teams in the middle praying?

...after the game both teams went to the middle to kneel/pray. I was just wondering what the occasion was for? It seemed as if they even stopped everyone from exiting while they did it because the lines didn't move.

In a way that kind of surprises me, this game anyway. It seems there was some trash talk going on between particularly receivers and defensive backs during the game.

It isn't a bad thing though, and happens more and more often at sporting events.

it is a big thing and quite common now. after each game both teams do it.

It started with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Ron Brown, and has just kept on going.

they did it after the NMST game also

Yea, it typically happens after every game. More so now that Ron Brown is at NU again IMO.

huh, i guess I've just never noticed it...weird.

I guess usually I leave just right at the end (or a minute before) so I never caught it.

Thanks

I've seen it several times. Kind of cool, I think. When my son wrestled in high school, I noticed he went off to the side of the mat, got down on one knee, and "crossed" himself. (We're Catholic.) He didn't make a big deal out of it, just kind of off by himself. When I asked him about it, he said, "Mom I always pray, and before you ask, I never pray to win. I just pray that I do my best and nobody gets hurt." I thought that was pretty neat that a 17 year old guy didn't care if anybody saw him. I guess it never hurts to "put in a good word"!

I think Nebraska was praying for a secondary...

But seriously, I was under the impression that this is done after the end of most games.

It was great to see. It also shows that the fire and emotion is durring a game and we don't have a bunch of angry thugs getting in trouble because of bad attitudes after the games. I like it! There really is no down side for the kids and that is all that matters.

probably because they were thanking God for no major injuries and being so gifted and blessed ... yeah there was a lot of trash talking but it was the heat of the battle and it was a big game, but just a game
