The Will Compton injury was obviously the big news of the day. All the other stuff is of minor note.
Here's just a few extra nuggets to pass along from Thursday's practice: Sophomore offensive lineman Brandon Thompson will be held out of the game with injury. Husker head coach Bo Pelini said it's not serious and expects Thompson to be at full strength early next week.
True freshman Chase Rome, who is making a bid to possibly play this season, also won't be available due to an undisclosed injury. “He’s fine,” Pelini said. “He won’t be out long.”

The Huskers will not host any official recruiting visitors this week. That's not that unusual for a season-opening week.
"Most players have a lot going on," Pelini said. "They’re just starting their seasons so it’s not usually a very good time. We have a few unofficial (visits) but that’s about it."

While Pelini knows there will be plenty of room for improvement after Saturday’s opener, he is optimistic about what he’ll see from the eighth-ranked Huskers.
While saying you never want to be too loose or relaxed, he did add: "I expect us to play well."
