Worth noting....

Why did anyone think that we would have trouble competing in the Big 10. For many years we've mocked them as a weak conference (which outside of a couple of OSU and PSU teams is completely true), then when it came up that we were moving there, it suddenly became a better conference?? Lets face it, it is a mediocre conference, and if we can ever get back to anywhere near the level of where Nebraska football used to be, it's a conference in which we should expect to be right in the title hunt every year. Our down year 90's teams whould have dominated, our 2009? that lost to Texas on the questionable clock would have dominated. Have our expectations fallen so far that beating every team in the Big 10 is an accomplishment?

I guess in a way, it seems that we have already reached the bottom of this season, and the only way left to go is up. In previous years, we hit that low point later in the season. That bye week coming when it did might turn out to be the key to the success of this season.
Exactly, I think it gave Bo time to think.

I'm glad you noted this.

I was thinking the exact same thing going into this season. It wouldn't really bother me if we lost a couple games here and there, but as long as we didn't start off on the wrong foot (0-2) against some teams, I'd be happy.

So glad we beat OSU last year and MICH this year.

Those are two big monkeys off our back earlier in our B1G lifetime.

Obviously the success against Michigan has to continue because they are in our division, but the OSU comeback in 2011 was huge (Braxton Miller in the game or not). Glad we don't have to play him again....at least I don't think we will..

Would not be surprised a bit if we played him next December.

I wasn't sure when their suspension was up. Are they eligible to play for the B1G Title next year?

They only have a 1 year suspension.

So if Martinez gets hurt opening play next week and we lose out, was it Nebraska's fault for not getting a better backup, or do we credit the teams who beat us for exploiting our weakness?

Truthfully, Nebraska is doing pretty well handling its new opponents in a new conference. Texas A&M is close, but Missouri and Colorado have all had rough starts. Texas A&M still has to play Miss State, Alabama and Missouri in their conference. More than likely be 5 - 3 when they finish conference play, losing only to Alabama. Unless they lose to Miss State this week. So a pretty even record considering our start in the Big Ten last year (5 - 3).

Its our fault you weren't prepared. As Tom Osborne's famous quote "Your as strong as your weakest link". The thing is, Nebraska has a very good backup, and I think Marsh could even do a good job, if it came down to it. Those guys are getting plenty of reps in practice. RKIII is very underrated by Husker fans. You don't see him out there, because we are obviously playing the better player. If Taylor was to go out with an injury, we got beat with RKIII in, you can't do anything but credit the opposing team for winning.

How do you know RKIII is a "very good backup" considering he hasn't hardly played in a gametime situation? Practice is NOT the same and the spring game is NOT that same. Until he has a Penn State defensive lineman, a MSU defensive lineman, a OSU linebacker breathing down his neck that's just speculation on your part.

I was judging my assumption off the time he had to learn what he knows, and the patience he has had to still be that sideline leader, while someone else starts. The little playing time he has had, you could tell what he has the capability of doing. Didn't know it was wrong of me to consider him as being "very good". The guy obviously has an arm, knows the playbook and has had plenty of study time to learn defenses. We are obviously playing the better athlete, but RKIII does have a better arm than Taylor.
