Would you be a fan of the NFL clock for the college game?

No, I don't like the fact that they start the clock when they go out of bounds now. I know it speeds up the game I don't like it. College and Pro football are completely different games IMO and I don't think they have to be, nor do I want them to be alike.

Yes, I would be. There is no need for a college game to last 4 and a half hours. TV networks and advertisers are the ones who win, not the fans.

Besides, the number of plays would be a non-factor; with the hurry-up offenses teams today employ, there would be no drop-off in the number of plays run compared to, say, the mid-90s.

Let the professional league keep their rules that make it seem more and more like a business than a game. Stopping the clock on first downs allows for some exciting end of game drives that would otherwise be highly unlikely.

This is the only rule that needs to be changed in the NFL. Inside of 2 minutes, stop the clock on first downs until the official spots the ball, then wind the clock.

Hell to the no. I for one, don't mind watching a 3-4 hour football game. Actually, I quite enjoy it. Cutting the game time down would only make me pull away from going to these sporting events. Why drive a long distance for an hour and half game? Stopping the clock allows for things to be more organized, and makes the game more exciting IMO.

This, I hope, stays far away from the NCAA.

They're tinkering with the game all the time. Moving the kick off position. Changing the touchback rule. Etc... Clock rules might be considered. Everyone will have to play by the same clock, however, so it really makes little difference. You would only be upset by the no clock stop after first down rule if your team was down and needed a FG or TD to win it late in a game. Otherwise, most fans would not care at all.

I think the NFL should adopt the college replay rules. The way the NFL does it doesn't make any sense on any level.

The college clock is fine. College teams don't get as much practice in running two mintue drills so it would make it a lot harder. I'd be fine with the NFL-style clock for the first 25 minutes of each half, or something like that.

The length of games is not due to clock rules, its due to the amount of commercial money the networks suck out of every game. The games wouldn't last 4.5 hours if they're wasnt 3 hours worth of commercials during that timeframe.

I had to laugh when college football cut down on the amount of clock stoppages because "fans" (probably casual) complained about the length of games. Its not the clock rules, dummies (not you, tschu), its the amount of commercials. Funny how a regulation NHL game can complete within 3 hours even with two 20-minute intermissions (they have less commercials).
