Yeah the pocket containing thing worked against Tyrod Taylor because he isnt a very good passer. But against Reesing, I think a spy would have worked better with the line just rushing like normal, because if you give him the pocket to sit back there, he'll eventually find a target and put it right on the money. But like others said, thank god for our back 7 and the plays they made today. Special props to Gomes for popping that ball out!!

P.S. Helu's a BEAST.... when he's healthy obviously lol :snacks:

Funny how punching or stripping the ball was tried, like once, all game and it worked. With that kind of success rate, you'd think we'd put more emphasis on it. We have caused too few fumbles this year. Preseason they talked a lot about trying to cause more turnovers, just haven't seen the effort on the field yet.

I give most of the credit to Mangino, and the rest to our defense maybe being tired. Coaches even said after the game that they thought we needed a rest.

I saw several times where our guys were pulling at the ball. KU just held on to it.

Think about this, though - if it only worked one time, that's a pretty good time for it to have worked, right? :) :thumbs

For the record we're +1 on the season in turnovers (19 to 18). Through ten games last year we were -11 (10-21). So we've stepped it up quite a bit in causing turnovers, and (aside from the ISU game) we've had a lot better ball security this year.

Yeah, I went into this game thinking that our defense had to be hurting. When you take something around 86 snaps during a game, play your heart and soul out, and still find an inner reserve to keep going... well the defense had to be feeling it. I can't imagine waking up the next day and feeling that hurt. Then they had to practice all week and play a pretty tough game. They deserve the credit they have been receiving.

But KU did hold the front four pretty well. It was shocking in some ways. It was the first time, this year, I felt kind of "disappointed" in our D. Suh and Crick were both double/triple teamed the entire game and just couldn't break through. And I thought our secondary did just ok. I thought Reesing got a lot more yards then he should have on QB keeps. But overall KU has quite a bit of talent on offense, and the D was owed a week to sit back and let the O pick up the slack. I just hope KSUx doesn't take any notes and do the same thing next week. This, inevitably, will be the most important game of the year and the Huskers need to be clicking on all levels.
