WR: Is it improved?

Niles Paul got the best of Amukamara and McNeill, Kinnie and Henry got into the mix as well. So, is the wide receiver position improved? Will it be a position of strength in the fall as the season draws closer? I see definite improvement with room for even more. Your thoughts?

I think Paul is going to have a great year, but a lot of it will depend on the quarterbacks. With McNeil out wide now, we should have the talent to field a competent passing game. Last year the QB and the line didn't do enough on their end. Not that the receivers were playing all that well themselves, but if the line improves I expect to see a large improvement in the passing game.

Remember....the Defense played Vanilla so there were no disquised coverages or blitz packages to rattle the QB's. At this point I think they are improving somewhat, but it's still too early to say how well.

It won't matter unless QB play is three times as good as it as last year. Pass blocking too.

I did think the pass pro did look improved a little, but it really is too early to tell. But if the pass pro was improved like I think, the receiver should only get better. Niles is kinda where I expected him to be, and BK looks ready for the big show. Hopefully Will Henry isn't this year's version of the spring game receiver who disappears magically.

I liked what I saw yesterday and if that is a sign to come then I think they will be much improved from last last year. Niles was reliable all game and I also liked what I saw from the TE's especially Kyler Reed.

It looks like the wide splits between the linemen installed for the Holiday Bowl is going to be a permanent change giving the QB extra time to go through his progressions.

Good thread. This time last year the talk was that WR would be a strength of the team. But our WRs dropped a LOT of balls in game situations last year. Sure, half the time the ball was throw several feet ahead/behind the WR. (QBs. sigh.) But still quite a few drops were catchable balls.

I don’t think we can know from the spring game whether WR hands improved over the off season. But a guy can hope.

Pass protection WAS very much improved, from all levels. Even late in the game the RB (I believe it was Okafur) picked up a blitz nicely.

Bear in mind that the defense DID blitz several times yesterday, but the O Line held up well. There were only two sacks in the game, but they were definitely trying to get to the QB.

I say it's way to early to tell. It's going to take a lot more than the spring game to convince me that our WR play has improved. I think the Washington game will tell us a lot.

I would like to see antonio bell turn spring game success into regular season success.

Given up on Curenski

Niles will be all big 12 team 1 or 2

Kinnie is a great target with his size

Hopefully McNeil can take advantage of slow Linebackers

Speaking of WRs, Will Henry had a nice TD grab. I expected Henry to be a sleeper in his recruiting class and deliver big things. It just never happened. Yet, anyway.

niles made great plays but prince played great too. niles was well covered and great throws combined with tremendous catches are why he outshined prince today, not because prince got burned
