WR/S Isaiah Simmons [Clemson Commit]

Day 2 at all star practice he was a top performer. He is playing at safety and they said he is fast and rangy. Can run with wr and big enough to match up with anyone. Could see him playing LB in college bc of the frame he has for growth. Kid is an athlete

Thought he said in previous interviews he possibly wanted to be a wide receiver in college?

Next Five Defense

2. Isaiah Simmons: The 6-foot-4, 205-pound safety from Olathe (KS) North was very impressive today. He is long and rangy and can run with quicker receivers, but has the size to cover tight ends too. It wouldn't be shocking to see him grow into a linebacker at the next level as he was good at strong safety in playing downhill.

Kind of sucks that the majority of the "big" recruits we are in for are all deciding near National Signing Day. Long wait. Especially since it feels like it's been a decade since we've had a commitment

The bad part of waiting for a kid to decide on Natl Signing Day is if they don't choose Nebraska, we have to fill in the gaps with leftovers. I have high hopes for IS though.

Would be nice if it was an orchestrated NSD announcement and we land 3-4 guys to cap a solid class, but since we rarely win out with pick the hat ceremonies I'm not holding my breath.

I don't think we ever came to any conclusion about the "silent commit" from earlier in the year, right?

Is it outside the realm of possibility it is Isaiah? He's been pretty quiet but definitely thinks we're working the hardest recruiting him. We've chalked it up as his demeanor and different approach to the whole process, but it'd make a lot of sense if it was also due in part to him already being committed.
