I was reading the thread quickly, but I don't think anyone was saying those things.

It would have been nice for him to be in, but he obviously didn't like Nebraska. The staff tried and lost out. I'm sure they have plans, and those plans may or may not still include going after this kid.
I wouldn’t say he doesn’t  like Nebraska, but he likes ND better. He certainly visited NU several times. Good luck to this kid.

OWH called Watts the top recruit in the state, but I thought Betts was the consensus top recruit? I mean he just competed in The Finals and by all accounts was performing well along with the top recruits in the country.

OWH is going with their in-house recruiting guy, who has Watts (a consensus 3 star) over Betts (flirting with his 5th star) because he "scouts the local recruits harder than the national guys".

Betts is the consensus among evaluators, but the word around the state is that its' Watts. Personally, I think if Betts was on Burke, and had Chadwick throwing him the football, he is a consensus 5 star and nobody is questioning it.

Watts is good though. He is a football player first, and is really the model student athlete. You would be pretty damn good with 22 Xavier Watts. Watts can be replaced on the football field, but it's the intangibles that you want. Rex was a lot like that. Not a burner or flashy, but he brought it and was so consistent in everything.

Good to know thank you both! After watching the highlight of Betts mugging that guy for the ball at The Finals I was trying to figure out how Watts was better, ha.

It's not about the football talent, its about the heart. Comes from a great family, he was raised well, real locker room guy.

Maybe they'll immortalize him along with Rudy... ;)

Kelly is good, but Frost is better, too bad he will learn that down the road when we haul in a natty while Notre Dame is getting blown out in every bowl game as they have done so many times in the past.  Good luck to him!

If I understand how it will have to work for that Natty ... we will need to beat Wisky, Iowa, NW or Purdue (2 out of 4 at least) on our side and beat OSU, Mich or PSU (2 out of these 3) in a normal year and probably a team like Michigan State ... then in the B1G championship beat OSU, Mich or PSU again ... and if that happens, we get into the 4 team playoff.

So ... for me ... I like Notre Dame's chances of a Natty before us.  We are just trying to break out on top of our side of the conference ... let alone trying to match the recruiting and coaching development of OSU, Mich and Penn State.

Dang, now that I write that it feels negative ... but, it is how my mind thinks on the topic.

I am believing Frost can change my damaged perception ... but it won't happen without him out-coaching and scheming more talented teams.
