WSU Transfer Farrar Interested in Huskers

Upland, California native Jeffery Farrar is transferring from Washington State and says he's interested in Nebraska. Signed with Virginia out of high school (Class of 2014) but their admissions wouldn't let him in. Ended up as WSU as they were one of the few schools with scholarships still available. Originally had offers from most of the Pac-12 along with Michigan State and Miami, among others. Redshirted last year so he'd have three years to play after sitting out this year. Was a high three-star Athlete by both Rivals and 247. Played corner and nickel but could also play safety.

Not sure if we have any interest but he is familiar with our coaches who recruited him a little in high school. Considering we've been after some JUCO DBs - and have a couple open scholarships, we might be looking.

Before people start harping on academics, there's no shame in not making UVA's enrollment requirements. They're extremely high. On par with, say, Northwestern.

Nothing wrong with giving a kid a chance. If he flunks out it would be his own fault as we have so much academic support you would have to put in zero effort to not succeed

 
It would be nice to get him, i would like to know a bit more about why he is leaving but I'm sure our Mike R. will talk to there Mike L. before we go for this guy assuming that we do.

 
That would be neat to have him come to Lincoln, if anything, because I went to the same high school

Read the story and kinda feel bad for the guy. Kinda cruddy that UVA wouldn't let him know that he needed to go to a prep school until AFTER he had signed. Granted, two sides to every story, but it sucks for kids when they are put out to dry like that.

I agree. But it's hard to know what the circumstances are. Perhaps he had to get good enough grades the last semester and didn't.

 
I didn't get the feeling he was good enough to come in and crack our two deep so why recruit him? We want kids who will have the ability to play early or to make us better. I don't think he would have been increasing the talent level. Plus... there are some caution flags with his situation.
