Joe, unfortunately they burned LTW's redshirt in 2 games this year..

don't get me started on that because its just a major hot button with me and a serious screw up by the coaching staff in my opinion.

It is hard to see into the future on how CG will turn out.

I'd love to be proven wrong, but at this point, I think Lee and LTW are our best options at QB.

Also, generally speaking, this is a game of juniors and seniors, and although we are young in allot of positions, Bo is starting to play his players, at least on defense.

That's right he came in in mop up against a few of the Sun Belt teams. That is too bad. I am not a football expert by any means, but from what I saw of Washington in the spring game he just had that IT factor. The way he bootlegged etc. He just looked like a Husker QB of old who could PASS, and that is a very good thing. I am not going to second guess the coaches though. They all want to win and are going to play their best players, but lets face it, Lee and Green have struggled. Of course the o-line play, dropped passes and some suspect play calling has not helped them out. Either Washington has regressed in his development or there is something else we do not know about. I trust these coaches. While watching the Oklahoma game I was calling for Green to be benched after the 4th series. He was ineffective and was clearly going to make a huge mistake soon. I wonder why the staff hasn't gone to the 3rd option when option 1 and 2 have struggled? I don't have a favorite of who should start. I just want the best guy for the team in there period.

My guess is because he doesn't know all 3,000,000 plays in the playbook, and probably doesn't get many reps in practice.

One thing that should be well known is, The Ohio State University recruited LTW as a QB.

That guy does have skills.

The only bad side I have seen with him, he throws the ball so damn hard, it's like a bullet coming to the receivers.

but I'm with ya on playing him.. if you ever stood next to the guy, he seriously passes the eyeball test..

Which qb will be hyped after LTW has a sub par game? This is madness, I'm not ready to give up on either Lee or Green. Stop just judging the QB and look at the offence as a whole. Exactly what does everyone here think the coaches based making CG the #2qb on. If the kid had no talent and wasn't better than LW, why would he get a start? Obviously the well is pretty dry with respect to qb's, but that doesn't mean you play a true freshman if you already know he can't perform. He's shown them something. I like what I have seen from CG so far and he has way more leadership than Josh Freeman could ever hope to have.

It would be one thing to have a top 25 offense under Lee and when CG comes in the wheels fall off, but it is pretty hard to judge a guy trying to lead this mess. Don't forget, Suh played in every game for our 2007 defense. It is hard to look good when your unit stinks as a whole (or should that be stinks like a 'hole?).

The Suh point is a really good point. Who cared about Suh until the unit around him started playing well. And now Suh plays better, the defense plays better, so Suh plays better, so the defense plays better.... The talent builds off of each other and right now, neither Lee or Green have much with which to work. I think a healthy Helu will help the offense exponentially.

Do not mistake what I have been saying about Washington as hype. Who knows if he could do any better than Lee or Green. It's just that with the play calling lately and read options etc. I think Washington might actually be a better fit. After saying that though, I think playing Lee gives us a better shot at winning more games with his experience. I think he may have a chip on his shoulder now to redeem himself after seeing Green start 2 games.

Calling some one who is defending BOTH our QB's is a sheep in this herd? I do not think so. I would say the person criticizing the QB's and OC would be the sheep. Anyway, I was just pointing out that this QB debate has no where to go if LTW plays. Why not keep him on the bench, then you'll at least have something about which to argue. Oh well, I do not know enough about LTW to say much, what I do know is that the problem may not by our QB. I guess I appreciate your try anything and everything approach, but to say that Green has shown you nothing and LTW scored to touchdowns is your evidence, well it does not seem very strong. Green has shown flashes of brilliance, both running and passing (remember the beautiful pass to Gilleylen that he was so impressed by he allowed it to go right through his hands because he did not want to disrupt its beauty?).

That was the Spring Game. The Spring Game means absolutely nothing to what will happen in the season. The fact is that we have below average QB play no matter who we put in there, WRs who can't catch and who aren't in the right spots most of the time, an average (at best) o-line, and average to below average play calling. At this point, it doesn't matter who we put in there, they will not do very good. And if we put Latravis in there, once he starts sucking it up, who are we going to go to then?

This is getting ridiculous. QB is a big problem on offense, but there are also many other problems that aren't helping the QB play. You can throw whoever the hell you want in there at QB and this offense will make them look average to below average. The only offense we have to speak of is Helu. Just hand the ball to him and let the defense win games.

A lot of things happen in practices and locker rooms that we don't see that influence coachs' decisions.

Some quarterbacks are lousy practice quarterbacks and better gameday quarterbacks. Some qbs aren't good in the locker room and don't have the full faith of the players. Coaches see this. We don't. But coaches always know enough never to appear panicky, which is why they rarely throw out the third stringer when the team is 6 - 3.

Knapple's right. Waaaayyy too early to have the book on Cody Green. Would have loved for him to step right in with the poise that matched his confidence, but I don't see why we had the right to expect that of a true freshman on a flawed offensive squad.

One or both quarterbacks play pretty well in a win against Kansas and it settles absolutely nothing.

Well Cody Green did lead his HS team deep into the playoffs in Texas. The guy also willed his team to win a couple of times along the way, a 200 yard rushing effort comes to mind. The young man has that winning quality.

And that is what is important.

The coaches have said that they not only look at physical capabilities, but they also look at guys who know how to win and get things done. CG did that in high school. He found ways to win football games.

He's got potential, like knapplc said, and now it just needs to be refined and put to good use.

You can shirk this kid all you want, but the fact of the matter is that the coaches didn't put him in to start just because they wanted him there. They play whoever is best for the position. If LTW or TM were better, I'm 100% sure they would be playing. It's as simple as that.
