Your 2024 Nebraska Cornhuskers

We just got a transfer TE ftom LSU.  Was a 4* top 250 player in 2023.

Mac Markway  https://www.on3.com/db/mac-markway-81136/

Played in 12 games last year as a true freshmen, caught 3 balls and 1 TD.  Assume this will be his redshirt year, so will have 3 to play starting next fall?

From St Louis.  Dad played TE at Iowa.

Left LSU earlier this month.  Now he's at NU.  Assuming he can't play this fall since he transferred outside the portal window?  Hopefully he can practice?

Said he can start practicing today.

Hell of a gene pool in his family.

Dad played football at Iowa.  Uncle played football at Ohio State.  Another uncle played college soccer.  His cousin played football at South Carolina.

Oh yeah, well my Dad and Mom NEVER played any sports and I...

Oh wait, never mind.

My boy has a friend whose dad played football at Michigan, his mom played softball at Michigan, his uncle played football at Purdue, his aunt played soccer at Wake Forest, and his grandpa played football at Michigan.

And wouldn't you know it, this kid is a very good athlete (was tall, lanky, and uncoordinated growing up, but over the last few years the puzzle has been put together).  He's just going into HS, but I wouldn't be surprised if he is getting scholly offers in football or basketball in a year or 2.

My kid has no chance against genes like that.  He's the son of a mediocre high school tight end and an above average high school swimmer.

(Great family by the way.  I was over there a couple weeks ago and we were sitting around naming random 90s college football players for a couple hours.)

I was prepared for your second paragraph to read:

And, wouldn't you know, this kid is first chair clarinet and the lead in the all school musical in the spring.

Ha!

Right?  Then you have to pretend that you are excited to attend the musical or orchestra event.

Thank god Speech and Debate are pretty much closed off to parents or the % of kids getting abandoned my Mom and Dad would triple.

Everyone keeps talking about how easy our schedule is. If we really can get out of this season with 2-3 losses, that is a massive accomplishment, and setting us up for the college football playoff conversation. Not counting my chickens, but…

The schedule won't look that tough at the end of the year. FPI seems way too high on Indiana so far, and I think USC is good but I don't buy #8 yet. Purdue also has the potential to drop quite a bit once they've played a real game. I do think Indiana could be better than expected, and a lot of people underrate Rutgers. But any rankings at this point in the year (particularly "advanced" ones that just don't have the sample size to be useful yet) are rough, and basing SOS on that is questionable.

Exactly.   I think we will find the rest of the schedule is top heavy and and as our QB develops this season, NU will separate from the middle of the pack teams.

Man, I am convinced that Jaylen Lloyd is a pretty talented playmaker. The way he came back to that deep ball that was underthrown and was able to find it and come down with it...that was just a really huge play.

Get that guy out there more.

I think he has the best ball tracking skills out of anyone.  He's not the throw it uo and let him fight for it it but he's definitely throw it to a spot and let him go get it
