Was it really Zac Lee or the play calling that was the problem? Have a hard time blaming the qb no matter how bad he looked at times.

Lets see

Raining (check)

Bad finger (check)

Playing a def that has a hard time against the run (see Nevada game they had the 8 men front and still had problem stopping it.) (check)

away game (check)

After knowing all this Watson decides to call almost every play in

shotgun

run to the outside

no full back (Wasn't Rathman for the 49ers a fb in the west coact offense so I know they can be integrated into this offense)

The game plan reminded me of Callahans first year when all he did was try to pass against Iowa State when their weakness was against the run) yes, I know Watson wasn't here then.

Yes, the offense scored 27 points, but don't forget the defense set them up on the 20 and the 5 yard line. Will this same offense move the ball against Oklahoma defense? Unless play calling changes I'm finding it hard to believe it.

I'll admit after those first three quarters i was calling for bo to put in green or washington (not that they would have done much better)

but i was ver disapointed with Zac's play. BUT that fourth quarter everything clivked for this offense and everyone was on the same page and in that last quarter we saw what Zac Lee can be. now he has to be that fourth quarter Zac Lee for the remaing games.

Mizzou didn't respect our passing game at all. They rushed a lot of guys every play coming after our running game and coming after Lee. Lee's accuracy when chased from the pocket was horrible. I still wonder why he didn't tuck and run on a few of them as he ended up having the ball sail on him and getting his receiver drilled. If memory serves me correctly, his long pass came when the rain subsided a bit. With the way we played last night, I expect the teams from here on out to stack the box and make Lee beat them with his arm.

There's a ton of factors that play into his performance. One could start by looking at the playcalling, quality of the opponent, the weather, and his teammates performance. This is a team game and one man cannot win it, unless his name is Suh!! GBR!!

One thing I would like to see Lee do more is run with it if given the chance. Last night he started to scramble but stopped short of the scrimmage line and tried to toss the ball to a receiver which ultimately came up incomplete. Had he run it, he would have picked up several yards. I think once or twice he may have been able to pick up the 1st down.

Plus, if he gets this happy when he runs, I say go for it!!

I would say that the only knock to Zac Lee is he gets too excited when throwing and over does it. Especially in away games. You can see that based on how many recievers he over throws. Other than that he has all the tools to be great. He has great awareness, great pocket presence, and is very accurate with a strong arm. He just need to learn to calm down and make the throws that we all know he can make.

I think he's quite cool and calm...see?

Here also calm...

I think it's an offensive problem, from the coaching on down. At times, they look great, the play calling is good and everything seems like it's going the way it should be. But, there is no consistency on the offense.

Bo has done a fantastic job with the Husker defense. We're probably one of the fastest and toughest defensive teams in the country this year. Now, he has to take that same 'fire' and instill it into the offense. When that happens, we will be the team to fear.

No matter which way you look at it, we're now light years ahead of where we were before Bo showed up in Lincoln. At least there is a light at the end of the tunnel. :)

We could not stop laughing at that, the eyebrow lift took it over the top. It was funny/awesome. I think he enjoys getting hit. Seems like everytime he got hit hard he got up smiling.

Anybody got a picture of him standing over the Mizzou player signalling the touchdown...I don't think he was actually standing over the player on purpose, just happened to be a Mizzou player on the ground as Lee through his hands in the air.

Zac Taylor had some stinkers early in his first season starting also, and he went on to be Big 12 POY the following season. I think Lee will be fine, he fought through tough conditions and made plays when it mattered.

I don't think he was signaling a touchdown, I think he was saying WTH with the game being presented by Applebees...he had Sizzler on his mind. :cheers

People tend to bang on Watson a little too much. Maybe it's warranted but I thought I read where all of the O staff has a say in the O gameplan. Short of not running that stoooopid stretch play so often when the box is stacked, I'm not sure what else they should do diferently besides run plays that require man on man blocks.

Mizz does deserve a little credit here as well as the conditions. That's why games are 60 min and not 45.
