Zac Taylor

At this point in the season, what are your thoughts on Zac Taylor - is he better or worse than you thought he would be coming into the season?

I must admit I thought he would be better. He's good, but he just isn't performing like I thought he would.

His improvement is in proportion to the improvement of the line. It also depends on the gameplan for each particular game. Some games such as USC and Iowa State he is being called upon to "manage" the game rather than air it out constantly.

I think he is doing fine. He's been consistent. A good college QB. If I had to be critical, I'd say he is slow and looks all disoriented in the pocket when it collapses. I always think "just throw it" instead of running and BAM - interception. I keep my mouth shut after that.

Zac is doing just fine in my opinon.

Regarding the USC game - I do think Taylor was basically handcuffed. Callahan didn't allow him to do what he is capable of doing.

I'd say he is playing about as I expected him to. He has what 16 TD's and 3 INT's, completing 65% of his passes? I expected Taylor to play well and not put NU in bad spots and for the most part, he has done that. He has had a lot of drops on him from receivers this year. Not as bad as last year, but too many easy catches have been dropped. I have seen him key in on a receiver and miss an open one as well, happens to everyone I guess, but I have seen it several times this year.

I think Zac is doing fine. He doesn't through many pics, and he has adapted to this offence very well. He isn't a great qb, but he definitely is not bad. He is just about what i expected

He's doing OK. He's missed a few huge reads, throws, etc. I guess you could say he's "serviceable".

I think Zac is playing like I had imagined he would. He has been accurate with his throws for the most part, and yes, has had too many dropped. He has been productive when the line has held their blocks, he seems to find the open guy at the last second sometimes. Not a lot of mistakes this season, which is good. I say you take ZT any day as the NU quarterback, IMO.

I think he is playing great. If he was airing it out like he did last season, with over 30 passes a game, his stats woud be through the roof, but he is playing great with less passes this season.

Taylor is playing to the best of his ability. His decision making is his best asset, his physical tools are average. As much as I like Taylor for being the tough leader he has proven to be, the WCO wont hit full potential without someone with his type of leadership mixed with elite physical tools.

I think he's playing a helluva lot better than last year. His QB rating is higher. His completion rating is higher and his INT's are extremely low (I think he only 3 INTS this year?) He's made some terrific throws and he's made some not so terrific throws. That's to be expected of a QB no matter how good or how bad. I think a lot of the perceived disparity from last year and this year is due in part to the increase in the running game. During the UT game it was shown NU is running something like 60% or more running plays. And I think if the O-line could give him one or two more seconds, it could make a huge difference.

Him not being able to move, even just a little, has hurt him, and it did most of the half in the 1st half. I love his leadership and toughness though.

Kid18 - I agree with you on his toughness and leadership. It's second to none! :thumbs

And DJ313 - bro, you are right on about him sometimes "locking on" to his first target when others are sometimes open.

Good observations!

I am happy with what he has done....better than any other QB we have this year. I think he is locking in on his first target b/c of the line and having complete trust in them to protect him.

he is holding the line and getting us there. I think he is great at getting the ball to the playmaker rather than making a great play
