Zack Darlington Leaves Program "To Pursue Other Life Goals"

Shame he had the injury his senior year. Glad he was able to contribute as the holder. Seemed like a great young man. Wish him nothing but the best.

Bummer. Hope he does well in whatever he pursues. I was always proud of the way NU honored his scholarship. Heard of plenty of other situations where a high school player got hurt and schools completely abandoned them.

I agree.  From the sound of things he was a great teammate and a workout warrior, but it's unfortunate that he couldn't help the team on the field more.  I wouldn't be surprised to see him try to get into coaching.

Remember watching the game he got the concussion in on ESPN.  He was tearing it up until he got hurt.  Too bad we never got to see what could have been but good on UNL for honoring his scholarship.  He's certainly doing the team a favor by moving on.  Wish him the best in whatever he pursues.

Kid was put in tough in one tough position after another. I think he was both the type of player we stand for ("whatever I can do to help contribute") and also perfectly represents what we want our program to stand for (integrity in victory...well victory was somewhat optional recently). It seems like a good time for him to transition.

Does this open an extra scholarship? Best of luck to Darlington, he was always an intriguing topic of discussion and a great part of the team.

Best of luck to this young man.  I wish he could have played more as a QB for us but had a medical condition that hindered that.  I'm sure he will eventually join his dads staff, get some coaching in and figure it all out.  Good kid and wanted to do whatever he could to help out the team, proud to call him a Husker.
