GR8NUFAN
Hey AgMarauder04 - seen you on here a few times lately. Hoping you can answer some questions. A group of us is headed down from Kansas City for the game. We will be arriving in College Station on Friday about lunchtime. We have never been down there, and want to make sure we get the "whole experience". We are planning on checking out the Bush Presidential Library, the Bonfire Memorial, and of course attend the midnight Yell Practice. Anything else we should check out on Friday? For Saturday, we are wondering if there is a recommended spot to park early and tailgate from like 9AM to gametime? Or is the area around the stadium not good for something like that? And is it worth touring the "Zone" and/or the mascot memorial? Or can we catch that stuff walking into the game? Any and all advice is greatly appreciated! We are really looking forward to the trip down there. Thanks! PS. I know this looks like it should be a PM, but if anyone else reading this has suggestions and/or is also going down and would like to meet up for a beer or something, let me know. AgMarauder04
To ALL visitors... About 2 hours before the game, the Corps steps off from the quad. It's pretty damn cool. I would see if you can check that out. Tailgating spots are first come-first served in the many parks and green spots around campus. The Duncan Drill Field on George Bush Drive is where most of the visiting teams tend to tailgate. The Zone and the A&M sports museum is great. Definitely see it. Check out the MSC, right across the street from the stadium...just please stay off the grass and take your hats off indoors. It's a war memorial. Food...FREEBIRDS. I'll say it again, FREEBIRDS. It's like a chipotle, but MUCH MORE variety and better. Huskers who have a hankering for home will be pleased to know that there is a Jimmy Johns in College Station. If you're a chicken fan, Layne's on Texas across from the campus near Best Buy is great. Lastly, Friday night before yell, go to NORTHGATE. Series of bars on the north side of campus. Wear your Husker gear, I bet people buy you a beer. Defninitely go to the DIXIE CHICKEN. If you want shots, Dry Bean and 315 are great bars. The Library is Martini Bar. Other than that, before game, there's LOTS to do on the plaza in front of the Zone. Have fun, and enjoy your stay in Aggieland!!! (This is posted in two places for all Husker making the trip. Gig 'Em!) Quote Link to comment
