- New defensive coordinator immediately. Or Bo.

- Remove Ross Els from special teams immediately and tell him to coach linebackers and only linebackers.

- Appoint a special teams coach

- FInd the team a psychologist. Or two. Or five.

If you are going to fire the DC, then you are firing Bo because all Paps is doing is signaling in what Bo is calling.

The argument is we could use a guy who is more than that, in that position. He'd have to be a good recruiter and be on the same page as Bo, though, while still being able to offer fresh insights of his own and give Bo more room to be an HC.

That isn't Bo's style, he wants it his way and just "yes" men around him. That's is why Watson didn't get along with him and left. Bo was micromanaging him and he was getting the blame for the bad offense. He was in a no win situation here.

Every time we loose we have another thread about coaching changes. It's pretty hard to have any consistency when you are continually changing coaches. The players get some blame on this one and that we can change.

Every time we lose? Yeah this is just another loss. 70 points given up to an unranked Wisc team that struggled to get more than 25 points per game this year again weak Big 10 conf play. But I guess we should just get used to mediocrity if we keep the current staff unchanged.

problem is knapp that you won't be getting the talent you need to make the team better because they don't want to play for a team that gets embarrassed on national tv.

And NU didn't have losing seasons in two of the last three years before he got here...2004 and 2007 are not that close together. NU was in the CCG in 2006.

well when your recruiting sucks you can't afford to get blown out and expect the good ones to come here. The blow outs in Callahan's didn't start happening until after the ccg but it's been over 11 years since we won one, how bout we actually win it instead of just getting to it?

Problem is Knapp, that is how you become like Syracuse or Clemson. Usually bowl eligible, sometimes gunning for the conference, rarely in the MNC talk.

Keep them all. This game sucked and a lot of it had to do with coaching, no doubt. On the other hand, we are !0-3 and division champs. Everyone talks about consistency is what we need from our players, so why not give our coaching staff a couple years to become a consistent group? We are still trying to recover from firing a coach that was finishing a 9 win season. I am fine with this group for two more years ...longer if they continue to win 9 or 10 games a year.

Add to that the fact we have a new AD. A young AD. Why put him in the no-win position of having to clean house? If he mandates that Bo get rid of some staff, that sets up an ugly relationship right off. If he fires Bo in his first three months as AD, and we dont win 8 or more games next year, he will also be a lame duck forever.

Keep them all for two more years atleast.

It is not reactionary nonsense.

Here is a team in Wisky that is solid but not one of their better recent teams. Their QB has no big game experience and we have more than a week to scheme to stop their run, their run, and their run. That is how they are going to go at us and everyone knows it. They basically run a jet sweep and plays up the gut out of shifting formations...and we CANNOT stop 2 running plays all night after more than a week to prepare against the run...in fact we give up video game yardage and are completely embarrassed.

That is nonsense.

yes. Bo has hired a bunch of his buddies so that he has a staff that is all familiar with each other. it's not that big a deal. many MANY coaches do the same thing.

We don't run that many zone reads. That's the Oregon offense, but here it's a change-up. Our passing game isn't a spread the field, short passes with YAC. We grind the ball on the ground when we can and try to hit teams over the top with some deep playaction passing. We couldn't establish the run game tonight, though. They shut that down pretty hard. And once we got down big, we had to start going to the air, but without a viable threat from our ground game, we couldn't beat them that way.

Our offense under Taylor hinges on forcing defenses to commit to stopping the run. If we do that he can hit them over the top and hurt defenses in a lot of different ways. But if we can't, and get down big...it can be tough. Sometime Taylor will be hot and fire lasers; other times he'll be cold, and then the offense shuts down.

Give credit to the Wisky D. Not a lot of teams that could have stopped our ground game like they did.

Alot of teams could have stopped our ground game tonite because we didnt have a ground game tonite. None whatsoever. Not sure if you know it, but? Wisconsin is not that good......So what and why are you saying such stupid stuff like that?.. We started out throwing the ball, and we never quit throwing the ball. Beck got into his famous panic mood, and never quit panicing.... Beck never committed to the run. Our running plays were mostly quarterback scrambles And thats because his offense is mostly finesse. Beck's first priority is to pass block. His offense relys more on pass blocking than it does run blocking. And thats because his offense depends mostly on Taylor Martinez.. Taylor Martinez is the feature of this tuff Beck's lightweight offense.. Because its mostly built for Taylor. Beck has chosen to do it his way,. He continues to waste our backs, and power, by featureing a 170 lb. qb.... This is part of the reason why the other team scored 70.

Did you watch Alabama tonite? Alabama took it to Georgia by depleteing Georgia's defense, on a night where Alabama's defense was a poreous as I have seen. But yet they still won the game, with there rugged brutal running game, useing play action passes. They had over 400 yards rushing, which kept the ball away from Georgia.

yes but they also aren't learning on the job. more than likely they have previous experience.

Actually it's not. There is still a wide gap between us and the elite teams and that gap hasn't closed. The sad part is these face stompings aren't to the top 5 teams in the country like Osborne's was.

Does Bo run a respectable program and make his players better men? Check. Do other teams who once dominated have tough years? Check. Has college football changed and made it harder for NU to win (scholarship restrictions, demographics, money)? Check. Does it suck when we get beat like that? Check. Do people go overboard based on individual game performances? Check.

Listen, I'm not happy about the coaching during this game (reminded me of the Callahan/stoops match up in the big12 title game), but I'm not going to pretend I know more the Bo or Osborne. Bo's name repeatedly gets brought up for job openings, and I don't even think he's looking. Why is that? Listen, we are going lose some games, but you can't look at one game. The team fought and played with passion this season, and when they weren't turning the ball over, had potential. But ultimately, the players are graduating, have good grades, are going to be productive members of society, and win 9+ games. That's not bad. Sure It would be nice for it to be more then that, but it's not that easy. Everyone want to win. Few constantly do.
