Just wasn't sure where to put this (re: Bo's desire to be here)

Some of the "insiders" on this board and others know that his agent has sent out feelers. He was really aiming for the Ohio St, Florida and Arky job I guess. I have no qualms with him doing it. If he is going to shop around, let him. I just want to see this football team WIN, and if it does and it helps Pelini with job offers, so be it. However, another part of me wouldn't want to see Pelini leave if he does have a successful season this year (BCS bowl game of sorts).

I am very happy Bo was not fired over audio-gate, or whatever we're calling it, but I do not believe he likes it here and I guess that sort of sticks with me. We are willing to forgive and forget, but in the end I think he'll be gone in a year or two.

This incident might hurt him in the college ranks, as far as getting a job. I would not be surprised to see him return to the NFL.

There isn't a single thing about this that bothers me. I love where I work and I always have feelers out for more work.

We have a fan base (at least portions of it) that has been calling for his head for a few years now yet he is supposed to show more loyalty than we do?

I'm with you on that. I could also see him going somewhere that it is easier to recruit.

I think if he leaves in a year or 2 we will all want him gone as bad as he wants to go.

EDIT: I think he likes it here just fine but I think he is growing weary of some things.

Makes plenty of damn sense doesn't it!?

Try telling that to the anti-Bo crowd....

He's only human...

I don't care if it's TO or Sabin, I will never believe a college coach when he says..."I'm not looking for a different job".

The trouble is, where is he going to go? There's no "better" job (read: more prestigious or set up for success) that will touch him after the last few years, and he's not going to go to a "lesser" school.

My fear is that he really wanted gone but wasn't able to go, so now he's stuck somewhere he doesn't necessarily want to be. Not the best recipe for inspiring a coach to great success. I wonder if our lackadaisical recruiting his first couple years was a symptom of this.

I don't hate Bo as a person or anything, but it's definitely starting to look like the best case scenario here is for us to try to finish out the year strong and have him take another job somewhere else. He's obviously never felt happy here and if that's the case, it would be better off for all parties to move on. I could see him having a lot of success at a smaller school, and I could see us having a lot of success with a coach who is better suited to handle the intense pressure of NU football.

I agree. I have heard from people in Lincoln that he is not happy here, has not been for a long time.

Eh...I don't think so, just some unlucky misses. The past 2 years in recruiting have been very solid and even the players on the field are showing promise.

If he REALLY wants to get out of NEB, he needs to do MORE WORK and get this team PREPARED TO WIN IMO if he wants to land a "better" job so to speak.

All this leads to the land of purgatory - 8-10 wins a season and no hardware.

The kind of sad irony of this whole situation is that I think it's REALLY clear that he's just started to be more comfortable here within the last year or so actually. I just think the damage was already done in the past and now that it's all out in the open there's not a clear way to mend it all.

Entirely agree.

But what if he now realizes he's not going to find a better job? So now instead of working his a$$ off to try and leave, he's just going to accept his 3 million dollars a year, realizing he's got a pretty lucky gig, and doing his job well (because he's a passionate, committed guy) but not to the level of commitment that will lead us where we want to go.

I'm speculating, and maybe I'm just taking it a bit personally. I always believed Bo wanted to be here, and it's kind of wounding to hear that he's tried getting out so many different times and we're stuck with each other.
