I'm still kind of shocked that Bo actually has to fight for his job. I won't bore you with the arguments from both sides of the fence. The simple fact is that it won't be like we are retaining Bill Callahan if we keep Bo. Keep the man.
I don't know, have you ever seen the two of them in a room at the same time?I'm still kind of shocked that Bo actually has to fight for his job. In Callahan's defense (nothing to do with Cosgrove), things did look pretty good after the Michigan bowl game win. We lost about every starting LB to injury and the team played tough. If Callahan kept Bo...who knows. It doesn't matter. We have Bo now who has some Husker alums on the staff in Brown and Cotton which is a good thing. There are things that definitely need to be fixed. Punt returns and turnovers seem to top the list. I think the "fans" calling for Pelini to be fired are really making things worse for this team... I guess that is what they want. More losses will force the hand of the AD. If Bo is fired after an Iowa loss or whatever, I think it sets this team back another 10 years. Sure this coaching staff has some room for improvement, but I think overall this program has been in the right direction from the start with Bo. TO (there were MANY McBride haters too) had his doubters who were very vocal up until late in the 93 season. The Callahan experiment proved that for Nebraska to be successful, that assistant/head coaching turnover can be detrimental. Our past success was always predicated by our walk on program, weight program and how long our coaches had been together according to many analysts and prognosticators. I think Bo gets the Nebraska way as well. He just needs to hire a damn dedicated special teams coach for starters!I like the fact that this team plays with emotion. Remember in the Callahan days when we were complete Zombies?
We could easily be undefeated this season.
We jumped up 21-3 on UCLA. We were THAT close to knocking them out. We all know that. If we score on one more drive in the first half, the game is over.
Minnesota, it could have easily gone our way.
MSU - - We trailed by 3 in the 4th quarter and had the ball. We take the lead, it's anybody's ball game.
The point is that we truly were not that far from being undefeated. Yes, good coaching gets you there, but had a few balls bounced our way and Pelini is a genius. This team is not listless or full of quitters. I think that we truly are this close.
What you are seeing are people actually learning from their mistakes and what the outcome can be when making knee jerk decisions...I'm really seeing the damage Callahan did. It's scared so many so much that they're afraid to even move, let alone admit that things could be better.
+1......it better be a damn good hire!Of course he isn't. Look after Callahans last season I would have been OK with just about anyone else. I mean pull Jackie Sherrill out of retirement, anyone.
In the case of Bo, if he's fired it better be a "Wow, how did we get him?!" Type of hire because a lateral move makes zero sense
Does anybody else hate when you dream an epic dream like you conquered a zombie army, won the lottery AND had a threesome with Mila Kunis and Jennifer Anniston? Then you wake up and cant remember the details. I hate that. This thread doesnt remind me of that at all.
