Look, really doubt that many (or any) folks here think Bo's the best coach in the B1G. But by any reasonable or measurable metric, there's no logical reason to say he's 9th best. Would any of you trade Pelini for Ferentz, Hoke, or Kill?

Of course not. Nebraska has easy wins, but MSU, UW, or whatever other team you wanna throw out there doesn't.

Everyone knows those SEC teams don't have any easy wins because....you know....they play NFL teams every week. I'm sure Alabama doesn't play any teams with a losing record next year.

A lot of what I have read in this thread has led me to ask a very serious question. Why is Urban #1? What's so great about him? What has he done that's so special? Didnt he just do at Florida what FLORIDA is supposed to do? Isnt he just doing at Ohio St what OHIO ST is supposed to do?

Unless im reading into things wrong, that's the feeling I get as to why Bo's ranking is being defended and scrutinized. And the likes of Fitzgerald's as well.

My opinion? Dantonio should be #1. And it's not even close.

Probably because he won 20+ games in a row to start his tenure off at Ohio State, he recruits better than anyone in the Big Ten, and he's won multiple national championships in his past.

I thought about the same thing Accountability, but then I realized that Dantonio is getting a lot of love for last season. To the point, at least in my mind, that it's making me elevate him higher than I think he deserves (or has proven, yet. We'll see if he can continue that success.) He's had some good years and one exceptional year, but he's had some real duds as well, and Bo still seems to have his number overall.

When you have Nebraska's legacy, facilities, talent, and money I would hope that games against the likes of Southern Miss, Wyoming, McNeese st, SoDak St, Purdue, Illinois, Idaho, Florida Atlantic and Tennessee Chattanoga are exactly that. If not, we have the absolutely wrong coach here.

Your missing the point that a game still has to be played and anything can happen. Nothing is given, its earned, no matter who you play.

If not already since games against Michigan St, Wisconsin and Miami in their present state are already a coin flip at best.

Have you even watched Michigan State or Wisconsin play lately? And, you know, not just against us...

I am with you to an extent that Nebraska is not as good as they were under TO in the 90's, that is a no brainer. But, you don't give credit to Wisconsin or MSU for improving their programs since the 90's.

The world of college football is not as orderly as it was when we were young, sorry. Lots of teams are way better than they used to be. Twenty five years ago no one worried about playing Oregon, KSU, Boise St, Fresno St., VaTech, Okie St., South Carolina etc. Heck Texas was a definite also ran, look at the records LSU was up and down Florida was up and down.

Its just not the same. It is not just that NU is not as good as it used to be, their not. There are many teams that are way better than they used to be it is big business and

we are consistently pretty good because of legacy, facilities, talent, and money. but with all those advantages we still are unable to bring home a conf. champ. that is the point of all of this. that is why the people ranked bo no. 9. not because of what he has accomplished, because of what he has not.

yes, any given saturday anyone can win. but the deck is usually stacked in our favor. are we going to lose to a minny or iowa occasionally? absolutely. is that the issue? nope. the issue is that we rarely, if ever, play a complete game of football. imagine how good bo's seasons would have been if he could get them to play consistent, fundamentally sound, complete games? that is what this all comes down to.

yeah. maybe we should be focusing on ceilings rather than floors.
