We didn't respect the game

In year 8 of his head coaching career, and in year three as coach at LSU, Saban had a national title.
Yeah, that isn't true, but don't let facts get in the way of Bo-bashing.
In year 7 of his head coaching career, while at LSU, Saban only won 8 games and lost to UAB at home.
So, what happened in 2003 at LSU?
That was Saban's 10th year as a HC
It appears to be his ninth.

But you know what's fun? Arguing the insignificant point instead of the greater one.

But apparently 2016 is OUR YEAR!

Cotton made two mistakes that just happen to be situations that could happen on any play. Just happened to be on big ones. If they were on no gainers no one would give a sh#t. Thats a hindsight thing. Theywere also aggressive penalties. Make a mistake at full speed they say.
That and the tripping call was a little ticky tacky.
Yeah, I thought that was horsecrap, he was falling down, I mean...maybe, but, come on.
. . . that was a whip kick.

This was just one of those stupid games...I think NU kept waiting for a big play and it didn't happen. Well, except for that Int return for a TD that changed the entire game. That game is over, right then and there if they go up 21-7.

They are not as good as we thought after game one

They are not as bad as we thought after game two

The thing that probably is most worrisome is the D-Line seemed pretty sad.
This, the game is over if they score and go up 21-7. It is a classic let the team hang around for too long.

No the team is not as bad as most think, nor were they as good as most thought after the FAU game.

There is no excuse for the way they played they need to play better, but a few things.

1. A coach is going to try and prepare his team mentally the same way for every game. They want them to play at a high level all the time. The players still have to play. I don't know what BP is doing or not doing, but do know he is trying to prepare his players.

2. The leg whip by Cotton is a Nebraska main stay. That has been taught by Milt, Clete Fisher etc since the beginning of time. Sometimes it get called sometimes it doesn't.

3. The illegal man down field was iffy. Even McKeon said so in his article today.

4. McNeese State is going to be a good team, stop looking at the fact that they are a 1AA school and look at how and who they have played in the past, just like all the top 1AA teams they are good. NDSU, Eastern Washington etc. can be scary teams. I was stunned to see how many div 1 transfers that McNeese State had on their team.

Again, no excuse, NU played poorly as the game wore on. They need to play better, and they can play better.

Just wait Polo. Just wait. Yeah the Big Ten is arguably as weak as it has ever been . . . and yeah we've got a Heisman worthy RB who won't be here next season . . . but in 2016 or 2017 we can expect fewer than four losses. It's going to be wild. Just wait.

Sometimes.

And Football is Complicated.

But the argument that Bo needs more time, when his career as an assistant was under some pretty great football minds, and at this stage of his career was the greater point. And it's not really up for debate. Which is probably why you jumped all over my flub instead of arguing that.

It was his 10th. 1 year at Toledo, 5 years at Michigan State, 5 years at LSU. His 4th year was the NC year. But I understand where you are with Bo. And I am inclined to feel the same way after this past Saturday.

Toledooooooooooo! (Shakes fist)

Totally missed that. I don't know why I thought Sparty was his first job.

Details, my friend. Details.

Well, I'm convinced. Saban won a NC in his 10th year as HC and not his 9th.

Therefore, we have the right head coach and this is as good as we can ever expect.
