This was just one of those stupid games...I think NU kept waiting for a big play and it didn't happen. Well, except for that Int return for a TD that changed the entire game. That game is over, right then and there if they go up 21-7.
They are not as good as we thought after game one
They are not as bad as we thought after game two
The thing that probably is most worrisome is the D-Line seemed pretty sad.
This, the game is over if they score and go up 21-7. It is a classic let the team hang around for too long.
No the team is not as bad as most think, nor were they as good as most thought after the FAU game.
There is no excuse for the way they played they need to play better, but a few things.
1. A coach is going to try and prepare his team mentally the same way for every game. They want them to play at a high level all the time. The players still have to play. I don't know what BP is doing or not doing, but do know he is trying to prepare his players.
2. The leg whip by Cotton is a Nebraska main stay. That has been taught by Milt, Clete Fisher etc since the beginning of time. Sometimes it get called sometimes it doesn't.
3. The illegal man down field was iffy. Even McKeon said so in his article today.
4. McNeese State is going to be a good team, stop looking at the fact that they are a 1AA school and look at how and who they have played in the past, just like all the top 1AA teams they are good. NDSU, Eastern Washington etc. can be scary teams. I was stunned to see how many div 1 transfers that McNeese State had on their team.
Again, no excuse, NU played poorly as the game wore on. They need to play better, and they can play better.
