Didn't "'Til we can't be beat..." used to be: "A team that can't be beat..." (As in: "A team that can't be beat... won't be beat").Below is the version of the Husker prayer that I think is correct. I used to say "stride". But I think it was Redux (??) who convinced me that "stripes" is correct. I've heard it both ways. In fact, in the two YouTubes below you hear the players say it both ways.
Dear Lord, the battles we go through in life,
We ask for a chance that's fair
A chance to equal our stripes,
A chance to do or dare
If we should win, let it be by the code,
Faith and Honor held high
If we should lose, we'll stand by the road,
And cheer as the winners go by
Day by Day, we get better and better!
Til' we can't be beat...
WON'T BE BEAT!
btw, "Stripes" is a reference to the whipping marks left on Jesus' back. LINK

Post 2001 Frank guided the team into its new reality "might be pounded occasionally". The prayer was modified accordingly. Was just going to say this. This is the correct way imo.Didn't "'Til we can't be beat..." used to be: "A team that can't be beat..." (As in: "A team that can't be beat... won't be beat").

I believe stripes is a military type referance.strife is the original word used but stride is what I hear most commonly used. I have never heard stripe and don't even understand how that would fit.
